War films come in all shapes and sizes and its obvious from the reviews here that this one doesn't come under the one size fits all category.

I really don't get a lot of the negative comments. Its as if people want to pigeon hole this with any other generic war film. But its not and its not meant to be. Its not as deep or expansive as the book but hey look! Its a film. Its got to get the emotion and stories across in about 3hrs and you can't do that to the same degree as a book.

And I wonder if the negative comment leavers actually got the underlying stories. No they weren't in your face and obvious, clichéd or dramatic. They are subtle, interwoven and beautiful. Its not a war documentary or historically accurate. ... Read More:
