Any hopes that Gwen had actually been incarcerated for (previous single) Wind It Up are dashed when it turns out the prison thing was just a ruse to get Akon involved. Akon, as we all know, can only sing about life at the Big House and it seems to be striking a chord with the kind of people who buy a lot of ringtones. Gwen must have sniffed a hit single and decided that slumming it on some prison visits was worthwhile.

In fact, The Sweet Escape is preposterous slow jam/lullaby thing that doesn't work the first time you hear it, and then somehow over time manages to become actually rather marvellous.
