The Murder of Roger Ackroyd (Poirot)

This is the first Agatha Christie novel I have read and it hit the spot for a period off work with a headcold. An intriguing page turner, but not too intellectually demanding. Stunning ending!

Miss Marple's Final Cases: Complete & Unabridged

Miss Marple is my favourite of all of the recurrent Agatha Christie's characters and this collection of nine short stories didn't disappoint me in the least. Of the nine, two do not include the famous sleuth but are rather of a supernatural nature (calling them ghost stories would be a bit too much) and one of the Miss Marple's stories is taken from another book. All nine are very good, some of them among Christie's best plots. I loved the book and I strongly recommend it.

Agatha Christie: Crooked House (BBC Audio)

Agatha Christie thought this was one of her best and said it had been a pleasure to write.
But for the first time ever, I guessed whodunnit ... and that took the edge off it! It's very readable, all the better for not being familiar from television - but I have a feeling that in our more cynical times the ending is not as shocking/unexpected as it would have been in 1949 when it was written. Still, it passed an afternoon very enjoyably.

Hercule Poirot: The Complete Short Stories

Being newly addicted to detective stories I bought this book for good value. At the price it works out at just over 20p per story. And since each is a short story, you don't need to bookmark any of them half-way through if you'd prefer to finish it. IMO it's the best possible introduction to Agatha Christie for anyone who hasn't read her before.

Murder on the Orient Express (Hercule Poirot)

This was the second Agatha Christie book I read and the first Poirot book I read, it was the one that got me addicted to her books. It is absolutely amazing with possibly the greatest conclusion.

Setting:The setting in this novel was a great idea to make it stand out ( although I think the ending itself would do that ), the luxurious Orient Express that Poirot is luckily on when a murder occurs. The actual setting helps to make the murder more convenient for the murderer and more confusing for the baffled reader 9/10.
