I have not read the book, so am new to the characters. I thought Emma came across as selfish, silly, and vain - a highly irritating character ! The men - Charles, Rudolphe and Léon, are all very different, but it doesn't really explain what they saw in her, apart from an easy lay maybe ! She even tries seducing an errand boy....
Worth one watch, that's about it.

A truly wonderful interpretation of the timeless classic. Every bit as stunning as seeing it live. Probably not one for the children, so if you are looking for that seek out a more traditional production.
It is witty, excellently crafted and moving. A world wide phenomenon and and instant classic. It is difficult for a DVD to truly capture the magic of a live performance, but this does an admirable job.
Essential viewing for all of the Billy Elliot's out there!

Right, before I go defend the British Empire in a narrow minded biased way, I'd like to say that the we were no Saints during this era and weren't for the vast majority of our time as the World's Super power (Up to the Second World War). We threw our weight around carelessly and unconscientiously, similar to another World Power at the moment and I don't have to tell anyone who that is!
The 13 Colonies (What would become the United States) had good reason to revolt against British rule, they were paying tax without representation for a victory against French and Indian adversaries, for which the British Government believed was fought on their behalf and had to pay for exlusively.
Now to the content of the film, I will never ... Read More:

This is Twin Peaks from the perspective of the victim of the main story so if you are expecting any big explanations as to some side bits raised in the second season then you wont get any. A great movie all the same with some seriously disturbing and deliciously surreal moments reminding us why we all love the mind of David Lynch.

There are all sorts of little imperfections in the 1943 film "The Pride of the Yankees." The screenwriters rearranged Lou Gehrig's famous farewell speech at Yankee Stadium so that the best line, "Today, I consider myself the luckiest man on the face of the earth," becomes his exit line (it was the second line in his speech with his actual last line being, "So I close in saying that I may have had a tough break, but I have an awful lot to live for"). Gary Cooper had enough problems batting right-handed let alone left-handed like Gehrig, so the actor wore a uniform with "KROY WEN" on the front, ran to third base when he managed to hit the ball, and then they reversed the print. Gehrig is shown wearing his famous number 4 when the Yankees play the World ... Read More:

The siege of the Alamo took place in early 1836 some 200 or so men defended the old crumbling adobe mission for 13 days against the might of the Mexican Army, apart from a small group of women and young children there were no known survivors.
