Got it for my sister, not much of a story to it and was more than a little surprised when the credits started rolling so soon (27 minutes?). You'd have to be a massive Shrek fan for this to be worth the buy. In short, it's not worth getting.

I've never seen Evita on stage, but from watching this film it becomes very obvious that that is where this story belongs, and although certain musicals have translated very well into films ('the Phantom of the Opera' and 'Hairspray' being two that spring immediatley to mind), this is one of those that I feel should have been left on stage. Saying that however, watching this film has made me very keen to see the musical in it's original format one day, and it is just a shame that it is no longer being shown in the West End.

A bold and colourful film about the audacious and uncompromising Mexican artist Frida Kahlo, from her tram accident at 18, which left her with excruciating chronic pain, through her many affairs with both men and women, including Leon Troksy, and her tumultuous but enduring marriage to Mexican muralist, Diego Riviera.

Her life was full of circumstance and the pain and tragedies that she endured are imbued in her vibrant paintings.

Here, director Julie Taymore shows she is an extremely talented and accomplished director, displaying her artistic vision and skill, making fantastic use of colour, art and music.

Visually resplendent, this is an alluring film.

Antonio Banderas, plays Pierre Dulaine, a ballroom teacher whose vision is to transform and give value to those others have given up on in a New York public school. He does this by teaching them to dance.
If this is an unlikely scenario, the movie is based on a true story!
Banderas is sauve, sophisticated, sexy and a damn good actor. He is very ably supported by the rest of the cast, which includes Yaya, from America's next top model!
The movie is let down by the ending, which is far too Holywood and lacks reality. Apart this, this film comes very highly recommended. It keeps your attention for the duration and is very entertaining.
Well worth a watch!

Shrek 2 was one of the most anticipated and well received animated sequels in recent years and broke many records, and is easy to see why with fun characters, daft humour and a very strong likability factor.

After winning an Oscar for the first, a sequel was always inevitable and though not as good as the first, this comedy still packs plenty of jokes in with the same and more loveable characters.

This high-concept farce was probably the film that first propelled Almodovar into International consciousness more than 20 years ago. All the characteristic trademarks are here, including an escalating cascade of unlikely (but strangely convincing) events and a handful of wonderfully written parts for women, who all give superb performances, especially Carmen Maura in the central role. Every actress who works with Almodovar seems to emerge blessed by the experience both professionally and personally. Of course, as soon as you sit down to examine the thing rationally it evaporates into thin air but it is terrifically entertaining while it lasts and a great introduction to this marvellous Director. This movie is full of action, adventure and creative characters without being violent and scary. My two boys loved it. It was loads of fun for my husband and I as well as there is plenty of comedy that transends generations. We have seen Spy Kids 2 as well but can't reccomend it as it contains more violence and the characters were pretty scary.

This has been consistantly my favourite film for a long time. I don't know why? I have watched it six or seven times, always enjoying it, the story is pacey, there's humour, action, and loads more. Banderas shouldn't fit but does and gives, for me, his best performance in a film. Buy with confidence, fills loads of genres, action, adventure, fantasy, heroic fantasy, etc etc. Enjoy.
