There are not enough words to express how much I truly adore this movie, it's legendary! I could watch this every day and still not get bored, I'm not even going to wait until I have kids to try and justify me buying it.

Two friends, Stan and Billy, take a road trip down south but run into trouble when they are mistakenly arrested for murder in Alabama. The hapless youngsters have no money to hire an attorney but Billy's cousin Vinny (Joe Pesci) is a lawyer so they call on him to help. What they don't realise is that Vinny took 6 attempts to pass his legal exams and, what's more, has no courtroom experience to speak of. What follows is none stop humour and 'laugh aloud' moments as the brash New Yorker sweeps into the hick town accompanied by his strident girlfriend, Mona Lisa Vito (Marisa Tomei). Vinny's lack of court etiquette, such as dressing in leathers and arriving late, quickly upsets the traditionalist judge, played by a brilliantly dry Fred Gwynne. ... Read More:

I must have been eleven years old when I first saw this film, and right from its oddly quirky (and gorgeous) opening music I was hooked.
The idea is not new, nor original. An experimental military robot goes wrong and escapes the institute at which it was built. The institute must then send personell to capture it before it causes any harm. Except that it's not going to cause any harm.
Strategic Artificially Intelligent Nuclear Transport (SAINT) No. 5 is inquisitive, thoughtful and totally unaware that it is a weapon. It thirsts desperately for knowledge, or 'input', and has a penchant for television re-runs, soon befriending Stephanie, a struggling young woman with a rampant habit of taking in stray animals.

One of the best films I've ever seen. I first caught up with it late one night in the 90's and have been itching to watch it gain ever since. I found the content realistic and with little censorship made me face up to what really went on in the 1800's rather than being pampered with the traditional Hollywood take on events.

This is a wonderful film. It has an irresistible plot of two attractive professors (he's got the looks, she's got the witty personality) trying to conduct a platonic marriage having found a genuine liking and affection for one another. Jeff Bridges is perfectly cast as the helplessly sexy, rumpled academic who after being unlucky in love seeks a passionless and thus more 'solid' marriage. Barbara Streisand is lovely as a brilliant, frumpy, hopeless romantic. Between his helpless sexiness and her hopeless romantic-ness you know you are set for an emotional equivalent of a 'rags-to-riches' rollercoaster, all delivered with plenty of laughs as well as insightful (even tearful) moments.
The supporting cast, notably George Segal and Lauren Becall is generous ... Read More:

'What's Up Doc?' is a fabulous film, endlessly rewatchable, totally madcap, brilliantly scripted, cast, directed, you name it. A total success. 'Nuts' is highly watchable, if you like Barbra Streisand, has good support from Richard Dreyfuss, and... well, it's all a bit predictable and sentimental. 'Up the Sandbox' is a minor film that's like the curate's egg. I like the idea of the film, and Barbra's performance is unusually understated. But there are too many very long daydream sequences that are really quite tedious and unbalance the film. Not bad though, if you're a fan. 'The Main Event' is a tedious boxing movie starring a heavy-looking Ryan O'Neal and a Barbra desperately trying to move the leaden plot along. Very, very boring and badly done. It's ... Read More:

it actually pained me to rate this at three stars because there is so much about i liked, however there was a also so much a didn't like. to call this film a tragedy would be overstating it but i did feel it seriuosly let down the story of the Queen of Curves.
Gretchen Mol was superb and far and away better than the over, airbrushed, naff imitation i had expected. i felt her performance really understood about Bettie and captured that spark in her that made us all crazy for her. She seemed to really care for the character and that made the viewer care too.
The cinematography has not been mentioned in many reviews i have read but it truly deserves to be. Anyone who has seen the photographs of Miss Page taken by both Klaw and Bunnie Jaeger can't ... Read More:

This movie will make you laugh and even make you cry.But the first 30 minutes are a bit of a bore and the dialogue a bit plain and uninteresting. However its worth seeing for the last hour or so.The chemistry between Brittany Murphy and Dakota Fanning is good - and the main reason to watch the film.

This is the first time that I thought a movie was not worth seeing and waited until now. This time I will admit I made a mistake. This movie was fun to watch. It is well written and the interactions of the two main actors show a great chemistry.
Nicolas Cage plays the Special Agent in Charge of the Secret Service detail guarding a former First Lady. The First Lady is played well my Shirley MacLaine. The agent feels he is wasted in such a detail and wants desperately to get back on detail to the White House...and the First Lady wants him to stay. The two seem to thrive on confrontation with each other. She does her best to break every procedure the Secret Service is supposed to follow.
If you pay attention in the movie you will see why the First Lady actually ... Read More:

This is great movie, a great comedy and much more. This is not just another Whoopi Goldberg comedy but a tale of survival when the chips are down. The lacing of hard life lessons with humour makes this a must see by everyone who not only loves comedies but meaningful movies. To have the courage to stand up for yourself, face being knifed in the back, quit your job and build up a firm from nothing in a finance world of wall street dominated by men and even resort to inventing a fictitious male partner to stay in the game makes the Character played by WHOOOPI not only gutsy but a survivor. I found this story line riveting and filled with courage and valuable life lessons. I recommend it not just for the great comedy but also for the depth and meaning conveyed in the movie.
