Great film, great cast.Great songs. Its been ten years since I last watched this, and found it to be great, I am suprised I forgot how good it was. Its as good as Oliver.

Looking at the other reviews I can see that people still think Boston Legal to be as good as it ever was. This is not my opinion. For me this season is where the series lost its way. Jerry Espenson, the assbergers (apologies if spelt incorrectly) sufferer became a semi-regular cast member in this series and this is where it began to lose its way. Jerry worked fine as a rare guest star but it appeared that all involved with the show thought his character to be so good that we simply had to have him every single week. Personally, whenever Jerry is on screen I lose all interest and find his antics irritating. Thankfully the brilliant double-act of James Spader and William Shatner is still prevalent. The other cast members (no idea who they are by ... Read More:

I recently bought this DVD in a fit of nostalgia. I remember seeing "Anastasia" when it was first released in cinemas ten(!) years ago now, and I blame it entirely for my lasting obsession with all things Russian. I settled down to watch it, fully expecting my childish whim to be satisfied.
Visually, this is an outstanding film. Half its power is in the appearance of St. Petersburg and Paris, both of which are a feast for the eyes: I defy anyone to not want to live in early-Communist Russia after watching this! Joking aside, real attention has been paid to fabrics and buildings and as a result they look truely magical. The characters, too, move well in front of their backdrop, and I have to congratulate the production team for making ... Read More:

I first saw this on television when I was a little girl, and to this day I still love this fantastic musical. This musical is very clever when all the fairytale characters bump into each other (some flirt with each other) This is by far the best musical Steven Sondheim (apart from Sweeney Todd)I have thoroughly enjoyed. All the songs are fab especially Children Will Listen. Bernadette Peters has a beautiful voice and to me, she steals every scene she is in. If you love going to see shows, you will not be disappointed by this excellent D.V.D. I give this production 10/10 it's that good.

Whilst watching this film a giant frog put his eye up to the window and tried to look at me, I can only assume this has something to do with the film and I will not be watching it again.
Release Date April 10, 2006
Sondheim's best show in my opinion but unfortunately it is not as well known as it should be. If you enjoy the C.D. I would also advise you get the D.V.D as well because then you will see the stunning performances from Mandy Patinkin and Brnadette Peters. They will always belong together. This is a beautiful and thouroughly moving show.ENJOY!!!

Poor Mallefille - you really have to pity him. Not only has he become the lover of the woman who employed him to tutor her children (and whose reputation is hard to take for his pathologically jealous nature anyway); only to be dumped again in short order, when she has had enough of him and his fits of jealousy. Not only does he have to watch her exchange witticisms and confidences with a host of other men, many of them belonging to the Parisian art circles where he himself will never be taken seriously (and God knows what else they may be exchanging or have exchanged in the past). Not only is he being bossed around by a woman who has taken a male pen name, insists on dressing in men's clothes, refuses to use a woman's saddle when riding (and what a horsewoman she is!) ... Although the special effects are not very good by modern day standards, there is a unique atmosphere in this DVD which to me echoes the spirit of the original book. Very worth while watching, if you can forgive the effects. For some reason, the astronauts take off from Earth in a moon lander type vehicle! The music is also haunting in places and matches the film well. The picture itself is not very sharp unfortunately maybe because I am watching it on a PAL tv. Overall, I think it still deserves five stars.
Consists of two double sided disks. The sound track is mono.
