Having watched this film a good half dozen times, I just wanted to say how refreshing it is to be able to watch a Saturday night slapstick which does not involve sex gags, gormless teenagers or even worse, high school students. I would however take the Amazon reviewer to task about the "c-list" stars. If John Cleese, Whoopi Goldberg and Rowan Atkinson are C-list, I'd like to know who's on your "a-list". There's a time and a place for everything, and if you want something light and distracting, this is perfect. We can't all watch "Schindler's List" all the time. Even thinking about this film brings a smile to my face.

This movie is very funny indeed. However it's not suitable for children, old-fashioned people with manners,or parents who are thinking of paying for their sons and daughters' education at a university. The sad thing is that students really do behave this badly.I couldn't watch it again because apart from the gross behaviour of the students there isn't much of a story going on.

This movie was incredibly entertaining. The cast, which included Matt Dillon, Lindsay Lohan, and Michael Keaton (not bad!), were all in top form here; nobody dropped it down a level just because they were working on a Disney movie about a spunky Volkswagon. The plot was interesting, and not overdone, as many family flicks can be. There was plenty of real conflict and real emotion to drive the story. The soundtrack was a lot of fun too. Best of all, they didn't fill the movie with a bunch of cartoonish effects on Herbie's part...they toned down his 'tricks' and made them sparse enough that it was actually cool when you saw them, and not cheesy.

I loved the Garfield cartoons as a kid. To find out they were finally doing a live action movie was quite exciting, although unfortunately like school uniform, you grow out of it as you get older.
Having said that its very interesting to watch if you're familiar with the cartoon, but if you hated that, then the films will not turn your opinion.
The first movie is just a basic cartoon theme brought to life, the second movie expands a little further out with more character voices. I'd certainly prefer the second one with voices from the likes of Bob Hoskins, Jane Horrocks, Vinnie Jones and Tim Curry and of course the always funny Billy Connolly as the jealous Lord.
But the tragic thing is, there's nothing at all magical about either of them, ... Read More:

This movie is an absolute gem.
The story as i'm sure you may know is about a modern day NYC girl and an 18th Century Duke who through a time hole meet up and fall in love.
Yes I know it sounds soppy, yes I know it sounds a little nauseating but this movie is pure joy
The acting and chemistry between Ryan and Jackman is beautiful and you can't help but get so involved in the characters and their lives and loves.
The horseback scene is genius, you'll never be able to hear anyone talking about the Louvre without quivering, and the roof top dinner will become your benchmark for all future dates.
On a lighter side, the joy of the DVD is there are actually a few deleted scenes which somewhat change the story, but due to test screenings ... Read More:

it wasn't a bad attempt, but nor was it a fantastic one. It kept me amused suitably for a short time, and Bill Murray was funny as the voice of Garfield. Not a film for someone that wants to think a lot.

I like watching high school/ teen comedies but this one just didn't click with me.I found Alicia Silverstone's quips unfunny and even a little incomprehensible at times.Get a movie like Mean Girls instead - a high school movie that is funnier and that has a more interesting storyline.

Studio 54, the New York nightclub that had its heyday in the late 70's and early 80's, now has a cult status. Even the mighty MGM Grand's nightclub in Las Vegas, for example, is named after the famous disco shack and is themed around it. So, if you're interested in late 70's disco anthems, how club culture developed or just an interesting 90-odd minutes of drama involving sex, drugs and music then this film will be for you.
The plot is about a fresh-faced teenager (Shane) who is picked out of the crowd trying to enter Studio 54. He rises through the ranks to bartender (a prestigious role - apparently) and the story follows his human-interest relationships (family, friends, lovers, work colleagues, bosses etc) against the backdrop of the club's rise and subsequent fall due to tax evasion.
