This isn't a review of the film - which is OK, its a criticism of the DVD release. How come the US gets a 2 disc set with loads of behind the scene documentaries, and all we get is a commentary and a few deleted scenes? I have no doubt this will get a Special Edition release next year, so if you have to own it wait for that. Universal studios are always short changing customers in the UK, so send them a message and tell 'em where they can stick it!

3D God it was good.
It looked so real and the effects were

I have conducted alot of reserch and it looks like the blu ray set is likely to contain the deluxe editions of the first two films that were relesed in the US earler this year and as for the third film not much about the features are known.

This film was never going to win any Oscars now was it!?

The only reason I bought it is because I got it new for around eleven quid in a supermarket and I like Brendan Fraser from his Mummy outings and of course the 3-D gimmick. In that regard the film doesn't disappoint.

The pack comes with 2 pairs of 3-D specs so you'll need to get hold of more if the whole family want to watch the film at once. Watching the 3D version of the film without the specs is going to be hard as the technique used simultaneously overlays the green/red layers of the image and just looks wrong! Some people, including a lot of critics, seem to think this movie was about prejudices. They're only partly right. If you think about it, the racism expressed in each scene and encounter is too contrived, too well set up, too obvious for it to carry any weight. Racism, in reality, is more subtle than that. Therefore, I just didn't find that aspect convincing. What I did like, however, - and this was more important in the movie for me - was the spiritual dimension to the film, and in particular the theme of redemption. When I bought the Mummy Returns on VHS I did so on the basis that I had a good time watching its predecessor, which as we all knew fell under "trashy but huge fun" and was deservedly a massive success. So naturally I thought the sequel would be a sound buy, and at the time (some seven years ago) I thought it was after seeing it. But looking back on both the Mummy and its sequel I realize that while the first Mummy was by no means Raiders Of The Lost Ark it was still a great ride, however cheesy it may have been, but The Mummy Returns begins to drag desperately at a point where the first movie went up a gear. This film is our Favourite "One to Watch again". I am 29 and my girlfriend is 25, and we both love this film. If you aint seen it you must!!!!!!!! WHY hasn't there been a sequel? John Clease plays and excellent role by the way.

I saw this a long time ago in the theater. I must say that I am not a big Hurley fan but this was the movie that made me into a HUGE Fraser fan! Yes, true, this is not "highbrow" and that is the point. It is entertainment. Here is where I was introduced to Fraser's signature "goofy guy" persona and I fell HARD! This is a fun movie that, if I remember correctly, most of the family can watch...Too bad about Hurley but, there you are, the guys had to have their "eye candy" as well...:):):)
