This series was one of the most brilliant the BBC ever produced. The acting was top notch, with a number of our best actresses portraying the horrors of WWII Japanese prison camps. I have always liked Peter Davison's Doctor so to go back and see where it all began for him was certainly an interesting experience. Four To Doomsday is most definitely a mixed bag, but I found much to enjoy in this story, even if it did come in inconsistent bursts.

In terms of the look and feel of the episode, with a new Doctor and a new season, the BBC was obviously keen to impress and as a result we are treated to some very nicely designed sets. Four To Doomsday sees the show at its most Sci-Fi, ideas of technology and intelligence forming a crucial part of the story. Honest - Series 1 - Complete [2007]

I think Amanda Redman and Danny Webb deserves praise cus I loved watching them. However the "kids" in this annoyed me......Theres nothing in them I like whatsoever. When the show concentrate on Lindsey its brill but I wish they could have cast someone else as her children or maybe the problem isnt the acting but the characters......
Anyways its worth watch if you like Amanda Redman, like I do...For that it gets four stars.
I havent seen the original (dident even know about it till after I watched this) so I cant compare it.

"Rollerball" is a superb film, possibly one of the best I have ever seen. The only carry on that really does not work...why?

Well for a start most of the cast had passed away, leaving Jim Dale with a bunch of newbies who were not brought up in old school comedy.

Like most other tv / film updates, the film completely fails to capture the era and essence of the carry on film.

A complete disaster, buy Carry on Dick instead.

Curse Of The Pink Panther [1982]

As Pink Panther Films go, this is not a bad attempt. After the disaster of Trail of The Pink Panther, I wasn't expecting much from this follow up, but I was in for a suprise.
The film picks up straight after Trail, where inspector Clouseau had gone missing. A new main character of Clifton Sleigh is introduced to trace him. Sleigh adds some new life to the tired franchise, and makes the film enjoyable and entertaining. To top things off, most of the characters and cast from the original series are present, including David Niven as the Phantom, Kato, Herbert Lom and Graham Stark to name a few. Plus Rodger Moore even makes a hilarious cameo towards the end of the film as the Inspector. The scene alone is a must see.

Tenko is simply one of the best productions that the BBC has ever come up with. The intelligence and complexity of the script shines over the course of the three series and follow-up, Tenko Reunion. The three-dimensional characters, the depth of emotion and the amazing horrors and tragedies suffered in Japanese prison camps shown, are completely gripping. The ten episodes included on these discs comprise the first series, and are a great start. Life before the war, in the lazy expat community of Singapore, turning through invasion and disaster into the misery of prison.
