Sleeping Beauty [Disney 1959]

starring: Mary Costa, Bill Shirley, Eleanor Audley, Verna Felton, Barbara Luddy
directed by: Clyde Geronimi

Release Date May 22, 2000
This is my favourite Disney movie. The backgrounds are detailed and stylised like a series of medieval tapestries. The intergration of the characters in what look like the best sets ever designed for a semi-swashbuckling musical/comedy/thriller is stunning.
I still get frightened when the fire goes out and Maleficent appears to tempt Aurora through the back of the fireplace (Maleficent being a truly evil villainess). The score is superbly used in these scenes. Brilliant stuff.

with the amazing animation and the trademark singalongs you know this is a disney film what can you say when the people at disney pump out great film after great film? well for me this film doesnt quite deserve the prestigus 5 star mark purley because i thought that the story seemed very very rushed but apart from that the characters are great physically and vocually (espseacially mr smee)and the constantly present "disney magic" is there so i am not complaining (that much) definatly worth a look young or old

Release Date May 23, 1995
This was one of my favourite films as a child and still is today. In my opinion it is THE greatest Disney film and does not have the fame it deserves.

From beginning to end this is a delight to watch, mainly thanks to the wonderful Sherlock Holmes based characters and cunning twists in the plot. There is plenty to amuse both the child and the Holmes fan, from the narration of Dr Dawson, the loveableness of Toby, the evil schemes of the Napolean of Crime - Professor Ratigan , and of course the cunning disguises and eccentric genius of Basil himself, not to mention brief cameos from the human forms of Holmes and Watson. For the ardent Holmes fan there are a number of sneaky and less obvious references to the great human detective. The fun, adventure and ... Read More:

A Christmas Wish [1950] (REGION 1) (NTSC)

starring: Jimmy Durante, Terry Moore, Tom Drake, Frank Orth, Sara Haden
directed by: Irving Pichel

Release Date November 04, 2003
If you are looking for a movie to watch on Christmas day with your family, in addition to the well known Christmas classics of your collection, I would recommend this unknown movie starring Jimmy Durante. This is a heart warming story of a true Christmas spirit, much similar to Scrooge, involving the family of Mr. Amendola (Jimmy Durante), his wife Mrs. Amendola (Quinie Smith), and their only daughter Rosalinda (Terry Moore.) Jimmy Durante offers a brilliant performance as a faded vaudeville star who rents an apartment just before Christmas holidays during Great depression. With serious financial problem on one hand, on the other, they face the challenges of their penny pinching land lord, Mr. Dingle (Frank Orth) who is interested in collecting the rent money but not fix the apartment. ...
