I had great expectations of this DVD and first impressions of the sparkling video were encouraging. Then came the 5.1 dts sound. This simply wasn't up to current standards. It sounded muffled with a peculiar fading in and out of instruments. The sound stage was compressed without any illusion of being in a concert hall, rather
lo-fi. I so wanted to be taken in by The Stones but found myself disappointed.

A concert of the stones with some guitars a bit "wrong" at times.
But the drums great as drums can be.
The rythm section holds all together leaving some to fool around
Jagger always walking funny...Richards not exactly an opera singer! Only one song dissapear behind comments when Richards sings solo, no wonder...
But when Buddy guy walks on stage you know who's the boss.
It's all worth it then.
Would have loved more of the rehearsals, only a few rushes to be seen,pity..
But in the end I am pleased with it.
Waiting for a documentary a real one...

I love these boys and whilst they are strictly speaking no longer relevant in the 21st centuty, they do put on the best live shows that you will ever see.
Biggest Bang falls just short of the 5 star Four Flicks but in its own way it enables you to relive memorable gigs that you have been to.
If you've never seen the Stones then buy this DVD as an introduction to their stage craft and solid on-stge performance.
If you have seen the boys then this is the change to recapture that night at a venue somewhere in the world.
As the boys sang "It's Only Rock n Roll" and boy do we like it.

Around the time of shine a light being released I began to enjoy the music of the 'stones but not love it. When I heard that shine a light was going to be released I went along to see it at the IMAX and from the start of the first song Jumpin' Jack Flash I was gripped. Mick Jagger's singing and showmanship was unbelievable as was Keith Richards's incredible guitar playing backed up by the guitar solos of Ronnie Woods and the unstoppable heart pounding rhythm of Charlie Watts. The guest stars were brilliant also being a fan of the white stripes it was great to see Jack White performing Christina Aguellera was great also but by far the best guest star was Buddy Guy his incredible performance on Champagne & Reefer is hard to describe. The tempo went up and ... Read More:

The Stones have earned their mantle for being real musicians. They can be rightly be called as legends having been responsible for Beggars banquet, Let it bleed, Sticky fingers and Exile on main street which are Classic albums essential for anybody who is into Rock music.
While they have produced serious stuff, they have never taken themselves seriously, they are a fun band and out to entertain. As, at the time this was filmed, they were nearing middle age, they were not out to shock to appeal to the teenyboppers, they were out to be as outrageous as possible and wallow in the 'debauched rock and roll lifestyle'.
IMHO, this is a perfect example of it.
Sure Jagger can't sing and the guitars sounded out of tune but that was not ... Read More:

My wife and I were lucky enough to get tickets to see this at an Imax cinema and it was eye boggling. The details as the crane cams and helicopter cams moved around was stunning. So much on screen at once. The sound was possibly 7.1 and it was extremely well mixed; we heard football rattles and klaxons pin pointed in space. Made the hair on the back of your neck stand on end. They really love it and they are a killer rock and roll band. Thanks for the trouble guys - and re-release it please!

Gimme Shelter is an astonishing look at the dark side of the rock 'n'roll collective hallucination: Jagger thought he was lucifer, the fans thought he was lucifer ... and the Hell's Angels thought he was a loser. The story is one of the best known examples of how not to organise a free concert. The Stones were at their musical peak: Mick Taylor was there to help Charlie keep it together, Keith had rarely looked so elegantly wasted and Jagger was Jack Flash in all his androgynous splendor. Unfortunately it was decided that the Angels would make great security guards. Even more unfortunately they got to have as much alcohol as they could drink in return for herding hippies. The Mayles cameras seem to have been omnipresent : in a situation where nobody ... Read More:

I recently turned on my tv, a movie had been on for about 40 minutes, but seeing as I had nothing else to do, I sat and watched. Wow within 5 minutes I was hooked, This is one of the best 3 films I have ever watched. This film has everything, it made me smile, cry laugh and more. The soundtrack is something else, especially Dream Woman.
I have searched the internet for days trying to find this movie on DVD, but sadly I can only find region 1, which will not work on my DVD player, Last night I actually found someone in US selling a used VHS copy of this wonderful film....... I can't wait for the package to arrive :)
If you ever get the chance to watch this film, you will NOT be disappointed.
