Saw this DVD in my local store and thought it looked like the sort of thing i'd enjoy (i like my horror!) and got it out. I really liked it. Story centres around, bunch of good-looking college kids on their way to spring break take a 'detour' and end up in the ironically named southern town of 'Pleasent Valley'. After initially welcoming the strangers into their small town by the seemingly hospitable if slightly strange inhabitants, who persuade them to stay and take part in their 'GUTS AND GLORY' festival, the group soon begin to suspect something is wrong as members of their party start to get separated from the rest and go missing. This is one of the worst sci-fi thrillers I've ever seen. Even for a tv movie, it's crap.
There's this electronic, energetic "monster" that was set free and that walks around, feeding from electricity. It shows up here, and there (but "moving" around rather slooowwww), and kills people trying to get into its way. The scenes seem endless, and since you get to seem them on the news again they are even longer.
It seems like the whole story was a stupid idea some people came up with one evening and they started making the movie the next morning without further thinking.

I'm really surprised by the other review's to this title, because I throughly enjoyed the movie. OK, its 100% TV-movie fayre. The are no amazing set-pieces and everything looks a little 'cheap' but there are some big names starring including Cuba Gooding Jnr (Oscar winner), Anne Archer (Oscar nominee) and James Woods, all of whom manage to pull the film up and onwards!

Basically, the story center's around the assination of the US president (Jack Scalia, of 80's Dallas-fame) an event which Gooding (as personal security) should have prevented (but didn't). I dont know why everyone slags this movie so much. It aint a remake of Romero's movie, but it does reference it quite a lot. All in all its an entertaining zombie movie. Plenty of action and gore. You read good reviews on zombie movies that are truely afawful, so why this one get such a hard time I dont know. Also, its the same guy who did Friday 13th Part 2 and Halloween:H2O. If you do decide to buy it, buy this one cos the cover is in 3D and looks well cool!Day of the Dead [2007]

As a fan of the original i was curious to see how they would tackle a remake.
First of all the story line destroyed by trying to make it more believable. The policeman played (terribly) by Nicolas Cage, had to be given a personal reason to stay on the island... To save his daughter, where as in the original it was his faith and stubborness that kept him there. His character is stripped of everything that made him interesting. The acting and script is so bad and so very dull. It made me laugh every time nicolas cages' character got angry because i just thought, how can a man with no personality get angry?! unbelievable. OK, I like most hooror films that feature Zombies, even the RE are slick `popcorn and 6 pack' movies, which can be enjoyed.
I thought ther would be no harm at all giving this movie (although I use that term in it absolute generic term) a rent, after all, it's a remake of a classic mid 80's Romero flick, and I thouroughly enjoyed the Dawn of the Dead update (2004), and Steve Minor is at the helm, what could go wrong to stifle my enjoyment for 90 minutes or so?
Well, everything - this film has nothing whatsoever in common with the `classic' original (inverted commas because I always thought the third in the Dead trilogy was the weakest, and Romero never had the budget he needed to make it on a par with Dawn of the Dead)
