If I hadn't looked closely I would've missed it.. This dvd has a new Peanuts holiday tale where Rerun decides he wants a dog for Christmas. It's an entertaining enough tale I guess, but the real gem is hidden away as a bonus feature; A Charlie Brown Christmas.
This is the classic 1965 Charlie Brown animated tale that used to be repeated every year where a melancholy Charlie Brown searches for the true meaning of Christmas in the face of commercialism. Featuring the infamous score by Vince Guaraldi, who defined the sound of Charlie Brown's animated existance.
Often referenced in contemporary Christmas specials or episodes, this is a true classic that no fan of animation should miss. The real shame is that it's not been given a ... Read More:

Brought to you by the people who made THE LAND THAT TIME FORGOT and WARLORDS OF ATLANTIS, ARABIAN ADVENTURE is easily their best work but I'm afraid is simply a straight forward jaunt! It has all the trimmings (or cliches) ie flying carpets, genies an evil caliph and a dashing young prince. It does boast some wonderful sets and fabulous costumes combined with a wonderfully menacing performance from Christopher Lee. But the story is too formulatic and thin. I think this is why it is flawed, not because of the dated effects etc.

This DVD contains the start (double episode) and end (three episodes) of series 1. The first episode is an expanded version of what I remember, and other reviews have commented about that. I like this version. This is a good series, which manages to end the episode with enough of a cliff hanger to make you want to see the next episode, which isn't on the DVD. The same problem exists with the last three episodes, whose story arc ends on the next season, and therefore isn't on the DVD. As a result the DVD isn't all that satisfying as is. Technically, this isn't a "best of" DVD, as it claims to be, but just the start and end of the season. Politics is a boring episode, mainly showing parts of previous episodes, and while it serves to give a glimpse of what's ... Read More:

Although hundreds of Halloween TV specials bombard us each October with cartoons and shows but this is my personal all-time favorite. Charles Shultz was a visionary artist. He transcends time and race barriers to create these wonderful characters anyone can identify with. This one has it all! Wonderful hand drawn animation with warm watercolor backgrounds that capture the essence of Autumn so vividly along with the terrific scoring by jazz musician Vince Guarldi.
For those of you that already know, I like for you to reminisce with me here but if you don't know you get poor Charlie Brown and his misfortune to always get a rock instead of candy on Halloween night! Linus and his misguided Great Pumpkin worship. Lucy and her mean streak! Sally and ... Read More:
