A nice change from the usual heaviness of period drama's, I really enjoyed this.

Very light-hearted and some laugh out loud moments. Colin Firth and Rupert Everett work well together and form a funny double act.

I was surprised that I actually liked Reece Witherspoon in this as I usually find her a bit irritating.

Another great performance from Judi Dench, what period drama is complete without her!

Definately worth a watch.

I'm almost embarrassed that I thought it was good when I was a kid. Because I was too young to understand the bad points and let's face it, we don't have high demands of quality when we are young. I thought power rangers had good acting then... riiight moving swiftly on.

Anyway I watched it again a year or so ago when it was on TV and realised just how innocent I must have been.

Not only is this film crap, but its pro American theme that is used to carry the story really made me cringe... HARD.

Its like a serious version of Team America. I'm sure the point of this was to have Americans coming out of the "Movie Theatre" (Cinema to you and I) jumping up and down with their lassoes screaming YEAH!!! YEAH!!!. But what are the ... Read More:

In the late 1990's there was a small spat of disaster movies that all came out with about a year of eachother. Daylight is the (unjustly) forgotten one which gives us a group of people trapped in an underwater tunnel following a toxic explosion. Making matters worse the place is falling apart around them and waters gradually seeping in.

While Stallone actually contains himself quite well for his role, its the lead female whom makes the film for me. Amy Brenneman is completely believable with her fear, annoyance and disbelief in her situation and makes the journey very entertaining. The stunts are good and the effects are done well - although I have noticed in the big explosion - no one is actually in any of the cars that get blown up!

A little jewel of a film! This movie was released with not much fanfare in 1983, but has developed a loyal following in the U.S. due to it's repeated airing on cable television. Such is it's cult following, that American cable network TBS regularly hosts a "Christmas Story Marathon" during which the film is shown for 24 hours straight, from Christmas Eve to Christmas Day! I moved to Ireland from America 6 years ago, and have searched in vain for this film to appear on the Christmas schedule of RTE, BBC, Sky or any of the other 500 channels on my system. Sadly "A Christmas Story" is virtually unheard of on this side of the Atlantic, and I soon realised that I would probably never see it again, unless I bought it myself.

I was told to watch this film ages ago...but I am an Elvis fan and somehow..have to confess the title just didn't grip me!!! However, I think Ray Winstone is a superb actor and based on that I watched the film. What a treasure it is too. The scene where Ray and Kerry get it together in the living room and Rays eagerness shows his head nodding faster and faster in agreement to her wishes and the Christmas fairy whirring around on top of the Christmas tree had us in hysterics!! The scene where he opens the bed clothes to welcome Kerry as she stood in the doorway had us girlies "melting" - this man shows such emotion in his eyes! We wanted it to be US!!!
