I recently saw two films directed by Norah Ephron. This one and Sleepless in Seattle (1993). Both have held up remarkably well. Curious to know the background (if any) to You've Got Mail, I did a little research. Its basic plot can be traced back to Nikolaus Laszlo's play The Shop Around the Corner which was adapted in a film of the same name directed by Ernest Lubitsch in 1940, co-starring Margaret Sullavan and James Stewart. Then in 1949, it was recycled as a musical (re-named In the Good Old Summertime) co-starring Judy Garland and Van Johnson. Definitely buy this movie. Excellent plot, sattire, Mel Brooks at his best.

This is film you can sit down and guarantee yourself you will enjoy every minute and watch again and again.

A must for any comedy collection, all the actors play an excellent part and I would say its even better than Prince of Thieves!

Dave Chappelle - Killin' Them Softly [2003]

Wasn't sure what to expect at all, but rented this DVD on the strength of previous reviews. Definitely not a "comic genius", but some streaks of clever and original material (in its day). A likeable character but nothing to write home about. Not a patch on Chris Rock or Richard Prior. I am only making comparisons with other black comedians as Dave talks about being black almost the entire way through his set. Been done better by others, but not bad for a couple of chuckles.

I've seen this film a couple of times now and thought i'd have a look see how it was reviewed on amazon. aghast at the 5 star rating i felt compelled to give my version of events so that others are not misguided into thinking this is a good film worth buying. i warn you, unless you are below the age of 13, extremely mentally deficient or can get hold of whatever it is the other two reviewers are on, this will not amuse, but make you cringe. just to make clear i am not some grumpy old man, i am in my early twenties but found this embarrassingly bad, even when half baked myself. avoid. please.

Mr Cage is not one of my favorite actors if I am honest he is good in this and The Rock. This is a dumb action movie which if you don't think about to much is a great nights viewing. There are plenty of big bangs and big guns and a plane that touches down in arcade but who cares it's a great action film.
