The 1970's saw a lot of variety shows on TV, but none were as unique as The Muppet Show. Here, you had large puppets doing the dances, singing the songs, telling the jokes, and performing the skits. And they do it well.

The Muppet Christmas Carol [1992]

This film is an absolute joy from start to finish, and is THE perfect watch on Christmas eve with loved ones young and old.

Everything about this musical version of Dickens' classic tale is a complete joy. The script is fantastic (suprisingly faithful to the spirit of the novel) the songs are an absolute joy, the sets are astonishingly detailed and Michael Caine clearly relishes his role as Scrooge.

But the real stars are, of course, the Muppets. Brilliantly acted, they handle the darker aspects of the story (Tiny Tim's possible fate) with as much care and attention as the wonderful knockabout gags and song n' dance numbers (of which there are plenty!)

I'm not sure why as it certainly dons't appeal to me but my son - just turned two - will sit and watch this constantly if you let him!
He finds it hilarious - he also has a blanket like Elmo and has taken to kissing it 'like Elmo' and can recite most of what Elmo says.
He had never watched Elmo before this but it still appeals.

An entertaining movie but not the best muppet caper.
Gonzo is feeling different and lonely. Nothing his muppet buddies do can make him feel any better. One day he receives a message from space. His family are coming to visit!
No one believes him until the sinister agency responsible for extra terrestial life kidnap him and try to suck his brains out. Then it's muppets to the rescue and the usual capers and chaos ensue.
Great film for children of all ages!

It's amazing how a green puppet with pingpong balls as eyes can always make me cry when I see this movie. The performance of Kermit's nephew as Tiny Tim is exactly that, a performance, a great piece of acting, made by a sock, as moving as anything you could think of. Lots of today actors should learn from Tiny Tim how to act. Or from Michael Caine. This, along with Sleuth and The man who would be king is his best performance ever. And The Great Gonzo as Dickens is surprisingly accurate. Rizzo the rat is also very funny, without spoiling at all the meaning of the story.
As I haven't got the DVD I'm reviewing the video release, and I can give five stars to the film easily. It simply has the magic of Christmas inside. I'm now 31, and Christmas is no longer, sadly, ... Read More:

I ordered this because I've always loved the fraggles and anything Jim Henson, but despite the quality of the programme I was very dissapointed to see that ONLY TWO EPISODES are included! This came as rather a shock to me, as I've come to accept the standard number of episodes per DVD to be around six.
For this reason, I don't think I'll buy any more of them, and hope that one day they release a proper collection set. It's a low price DVD, but I'd expect more than fifty minutes of viewing, even for six pounds.

On the other hand they are great shows, and I can't say anything bad about that aspect of it.
