Nice easy to watch film, passes the time and a bit more. Drew Barrymore, I find, is sweet and appealing as an actress but never too much, can usually enjoy watching her, and that is the case here too. She carries the film along, and David Arquette is good fun as her brother. Enjoyable and with a happy ending but not too sweet, just.

Craven's "Scream" is a masterpiece, it can't be denied. The intricate references to previous horror-movie greats is fantastic and Craven voices his thoughts on the horror genre throughout the film through the character Randy, a movie buff.
There are many plot twists and turns that make for edge-of-your-seat viewing. I loved this film and I highly recommend it to any horror fan. I also recommend you buy the soundtrack - it's awesome.

Gondry has this wizardly combination of cool ideas and a real feeling for the music he's illuminating. Highlights for me are Beck's Deadweight - which is full of haunting and humerous images of dislocation - and Chemical Bros' Star Guitar - which perfectly maps the tune onto a hypnotic view of industrial suburbs from the window of a train.
When I play it on my PC, the DVD freezes after I select an option from the menu where he's playing drums (though you can get round this) - hence four stars instead of five.

I am sorry but if you dont enjoy this film you must have had a sense of humour bypass operation when you were younger. The cast is great, the story superb and the music excellent. A film you will keep coming back to when you need to put a smile on your face!!

The Grey Zone is another well-intentioned failure to add to the canon of Holocaust cinema. On one level you feel bad for criticizing a sincere effort, but on the other when a film with this subject matter (the revolt of the Jewish and Polish Sonderkomandos who ran the crematoriums in Auschwitz in return for a few more months of life) doesn't actually make you FEEL, there's definitely something wrong with it. A few of the performances (Steve Buscemi, Daniel Benzali, David Arquette) are excellent, but far too many are inadequate (especially Alan Corduner in a key role) or just plain bad (Harvey Keitel and Bryan O'Byrne's unfortunately comic book Nazis). The dialogue in director Tim Blake Nelson's script, based on his play, is extremely problematic, to put it mildly. Aiming for evasiveness, ... Read More:

A brilliant film - this is the kind of family film I like. A few years ago Hollywood used to make dog comedies aimed at the family audience, and it meant one thing - your kids would love it, but you would have to endure it.
Whats so great about this is it works on a lot of levels - there's comedy aimed at both adults and kids. David Arquette showcases the kind of manic comic timing which makes you wonder why you don't see him in more movies. Michael Clarke Duncan gives the tough guy with a soft underbelly performance you've come to rely on him over the years. But both are of course outdone by "Spot" the dog here.
Some brilliant slapstick comedy which will keep you laughing on repeat viewings ...
