I first saw this beautiful and legendary film today and all I can say is, what a gem it really is!
The storyline is wonderful, the acting is truely unbeatable and "Kes" will make you both laugh and cry.
Lynne Perrie who later went on to play Ivy Tilsley in Coronation Street, deserves recognition as a fantastic actress, I loved her in "Corrie", "Queenie's Castle", "Follyfoot", "Leeds United" and of course, her infamous appearances on "The Word" and "Shooting Stars". But perhaps her best work is "Kes" where she plays the mouthy Mrs. Casper.
The other actors are also brilliant and the storyline is strong.
Above all, this film is a truely remarkable piece of work that I can fully recommened you see.

The opening scene, on i presume the Yorkshire Moors, will be with me forever. This is a classic film with a blend of humour and horror neatly rolled into one. The special effects were cutting edge at the time.

I can't believe it's more than twenty five years old. Quick, get me a wheelchair !!

At first I wasn't sure if an Only Fools and Horses spin off would work but I feel that this is one of the funniest comedys on television. The show is very funny and deserves a five star rating

I bought this because my little girl loves the story of Rapunzel but this was nothing like the original story. Yes she has long hair and yes her name is Rapunzel but that is it. She did enjoy watching it but Rapunzel it is not.

This DVD comprises three main parts: "Anyone for Pennis", "A Very Important Pennis" and Dennis Pennis RIP. "Anyone for Pennis" and "A Very Important Pennis" are the best parts of the collection, though the box is deceptive; they arn't complete as stated; a number of scenes have been omitted or changed. For example, if you remember the Robin Williams interview (in which Pennis remarked to Williams that he'd heard he'd been turned down to play the part of the wolf in "Little Red Riding Hood" 'On account of being too hairy', then you will be disappointed, since this is not on this DVD, along with several other omitted scenes.

Other reviews which have dissected this film piece by piece and so paint it in a negative light are clearly overlooking the sheer brilliance of this movie as a black comedy masterpiece. The film had me laughing out light in so many places - the absurd lack of realism is the whole point. Costner shines in a nice change of direction, Russell gives the film a real edge. I agree Slater is underused. Plus Cox is less than believable but hey, she looks good so enjoy the ride. Cinematography is awesome - look no further for a real slice of Mid-West America on a road trip extraordinaire. Oh and the soundtrack is chosen to perfection too. And now Saban have decided to (abysmally) computer animate their rubbish. I weep for the original '95 movie, as none of these badly acted, cheaply made sequels have cone CLOSE to doing it justice, or even keep facts intact from the original. A thetrical big-budget release following the original big-screener (the 1996 movie TV series was very well done and thoughroughly enjoyable - we want that released in it's entirety on videos! The Bumper Specials aren't enough!) could have worked, but now these are being land-before-timed. Coming out in force and each one getting worse and worse...So sad.

I went to see this in the cinema last night and haven't laughed so hard in a long time. Whilst a lot of the laughter was out of disbelief at the choices of targets for Silverman's comedy, plenty of it was at the actual material.
If you are someone who has ever been offended by an on-stage comic then this is probably not for you.
If the very notion of someone making jokes about rape, 9-11, or the holocaust is too sickening for you to handle then don't bother.
I'd recommend you take a trip to YouTube first, sample some of the clips there and then decide whether you can take the Sarah Silverman assault on the sensibilities.
From the show: "Remember, when God gives you Aids (and God *does* give you Aids by the way), make lemon-Aids."

Now I've never read the book so I cant speak for it BUT this is no childrens movie. Not that young people cant watch it I just think you have to be a little older to apperciate it.
This movie is about england after World War Two,or at least in the end of it. Its about how hard it was for the children to come back home when they'd been living in America for years and for the men coming back to their wifes who had changed some...
