Having recently read a feature in Sight & Sound abaout how Clint Eastwood is possibly, going on his track record, America's greatest living director, I felt that, as a self-respecting film fan, I should really delve into a bit of his back catalogue. For some reason, the blurb about 'The Bridges of Madison County' appealed to me more than many of his other films, so I rented it and was in due course blown away.
The film is full of incredibly emotive, and as it moves on, incredibly tense scenes, expertly played by Eastwood and co-star Meryl Streep. It's fundamentally a love story, with Streep, playing an Italian who has moved to live in Iowa simply because it is in America, torn between her husband, who she has apparently grown out of ... I love this movie, I've done ballet since i was small so i can really appreciate this movie. If you dance you will definatly like this however, if you don't really like dance this may be a little boring, as the story is based around a ballet company. This always makes me wanna dance if i'm finding it hard to get into the dancing spirt i just watch this and i just wanna dance hahaha!!! but over all its a good movie though some could find it a little dull!

Max Bialystock (Nathan Lane) is a loser as a Broadway producer, but his accountant Leo Bloom (Matthew Broderick) helps him come with up with a plan to produce the worst show ever on the Great White Way, one they know will close after only one performance, and then abscond with the money they raised. The show they're sure will bomb is called "Springtime for Hitler."
Based on Mel Brooks' Broadway musical that was based on his non-musical movie, this is pretty much a filmed stage play starring the play's two leads, Lane and Broderick. I like Nathan Lane, but this is too much of a good thing; he's too loud, too mincing, and too broad and is exhausting to watch. Broderick is full of wide-eyed, Ferris Bueller-charm and likeability, but he is tiresome ... Read More:

Did anyone notice that the Satan's name in this entertaining-but-flawed flick is Milton, and that the marble reliefs which come to tantalizing life on Al Pacino's wall also allude to the great English poet's masterpiece?
I feel that "Devil's Advocate" has some good material, including touches of humor, some stunning cinematographic effects, and the performances by Ms. Theron and Al Pacino, who chews the scenery with such devilish panache that he dominates Keanu Reeves (but perhaps that is the point). And while the film, which combines legal ethics (or the lack of them) with the "Rosemary's Baby" genre, held my interest from start to finish, it did not quite come together--whether because of choppy editing or the "Dallas" option that precedes the ending, ... Peter meets Rita, a bright, slightly unusual woman who he instantly falls head-over-heels in love with. The two have a whirlwind romance and within months are getting married.
At the wedding, everything goes to plan until an old man gate-crashes quietly and asks to kiss the bride. Kissing Rita, however, causes some kind of switch of bodies, leaving her in the old man's body, and leaving him in hers.
On the Honeymoon, Peter realises something isn't quite right when the Rita he thought he knew is suddenly a totally different person than he had married. It doesn't take him long to figure out something happened, and now the woman he's married to is definately NOT Rita.
Even when he does locate his real wife - in the body of the old ... Read More:

Where to begin? This is without a doubt one of the worst films that I have ever, ever seen. Boring, cliched, obvious (and that was just Ricki Lake's 'acting'). There are undiscovered Peruvian tribes that could quite easily have guessed the ending from watching the first half-hour (although this would be a flagrant abuse of their human rights). Overuse of co-incidence as a plot device and ridiculousness abounds as the film struggles to maintain the illusion that such a palpably nonsensical situation would ever be possible.
This is sentimental, escapist rubbish of the worst Catherine Cookson kind. I am surprised that Brendan Fraser ever agreed to participate in this crime against cinema.

It was weird watching Hugh Grant acting as a serious character. I kept waiting for him to dither and mumble, but he did quite well.
Playing the part of an English doctor in an A+E hospital dept. he uncovers a ghoulish plot to use homeless vagrants as medical guinea pigs, by Gene Hackman, who is trying to use brain stem technology to cure victims of paralysis. Grant plays the hero quite well and thankfully doesn't really go down the James Bond route i feared initially.
