British silent Comedy at it's best. You just couldn't imagine the amount of scrapes you can get into by merely transporting one plank from A to B

Hammer House of Horror, one of the best horror collections you can buy, quite often at a bargainous price, is not to be missed. Allowing for personal tastes the consensus seems to be that there are 10 or 11 of the episodes which are good or very good with 2 or 3 not so good but worth a watch. Personally I would say there is only one real duffer 'Growing Pains' but a few other reviewers have expressed their like for this episode so as I said it all boils down to personal preference.
I'll quickly run thru the episodes in their chronicological order on the disc for ease though as one reviewer stated this was not the order in which they were originally aired.

Okay, so this is no Carry On masterpiece, but it will certainly put a smile upon your face!
Barry Evans stars in this 'saucy' sex farce about a randy Taxi Driver, and the opening scene is suitably funny as we see Diana Dors playing the part of his mother marvellously! This is what made Dors so great - the contrast of parts she went on to play. It is hard to believe that just several years earlier, she was playing the 'blonde bomb shell' ('Tread Softly Stranger') and although she was still beautiful, was not afraid to don some theatre make up later on and play character roles.
After the opening scene mentioned, this movie is a bit slow, but bear with it as it does get going, and it gets more ... Read More:

I've bought a lot of DVD's from this era but this is one of the best and it's in a league of its own for value.
The reviews voted most helpful regarding this Network remastered collection (in my experience a guarantee of quality) have generally summed up this excellent Seventies series very well, but no doubt many people will still be hesitant about buying a thirty-odd year old series. My advice would be to remember how many times you've checked the daily TV schedule over the last few years and thought, "What a load of ... .".
For about £40 you can get 999 minutes of generally top quality Seventies thrills/suspense/horror. Thoroughly enjoyable and highly recommended.

This a very moving film. with Diana Dors playing a very much different role than we, are all accustomed to seeing in her movies as the blonde sex bomb.Dors plays a woman who has an affair with a man who loses interest in her and finds someone else. she shoots her rival in cold blood and goes to prison for her crime whereby she is going to be hanged. the film is based on the Ruth Ellis story England's last woman to be hung. Dors plays the part so well that one feels sorry for her. there are flash backs in the film to how she was and how her affair went with the man of her dreams. the harsh prison cell and the stern prison warders give insite to prison life. it is quite a moment when she tells them and the doctor you only keeping me alive so as to kill me you all want to ... At last a DVD of the brilliant Adam Ant! Those wonderful videos - music that tells stories with wit and style - sexy and seductive to the last. This is a classic British thriller from 1958. Diana Dors is stunning as the sex siren who drives a rift between two brothers without realising that she cannot have everything she wants. What she wants is George Baker, but she is already involved somewhat one sidedly with his brother.
The weaker brother, Dave, has robbed his employer and hits the panic button when he hears the auditors are on their way. Diana persuades him to rob the safe to get himself out of the pickle.
It is never that simple.
This is a stunning kitchen sink film noire. A serious drama, it has an intensity second to none. The scenery is bland and atmospheric and provides an excellent backdrop to this outstanding film.
It was lovely to see a young Patrick Allen.
WELL WORTH WATCHING!

Some movies are bad and good at the same time. Noone could (or should) take this movie seriously. But if you like silly movies with a lot of female nudity in them, then check this out. The plot (eh!) is about a young man living in a castle. He kidnaps a beautiful young woman and ties her hands to some ropes hanging down from the roof. And, oh yeah, he strips her of all her clothes. So she stands there completely naked tied to those ropes for a good portion of the movie. And when someone comes into the room, he has to hide her under some big blanket. Just your everyday kind of movie-plot...
And it's dubbed. At least some of the actors are Danish-speaking from the beginning. But they overdubbed them with English voices. The butler sounds really silly, but in a fun way. This movie ... Read More:

A consistently faithfull adaption of the often misrepresented Stevenson classic. I cant say this is general easy entertainment. The story is quite staid which in one way adds to its faithfulness but also makes it plod somewhat undramatically. Still it has lots to offer including a strange synth soundtrack and some genuinly unsettling sequences with some nice camerawork and artistic touches. The sets are interesting and give a convincing 'dark' victorian atmosphere and some unusual angles with roofs present which is rarely seen in television. Overall worth watching but only owning if you are a collector of gothic addaptions or cult wierdness.

Good acting but uninteresting story. Not much happens and its very talky. Judging from the cover and the casting I expected a fun comedy but "There's a Girl in My Soup" feels more of an uninspired drama-comedy, with very few funny moments (I can only think of one, and I just finished watching it). The acting is good, as expected from Hawn and Sellers, but their talents are wasted. Not recommended.
