This is a great film funny and entertaining, lighthearted and romantic, not to be taken seriously. Good music, good story, a real feel good romantic comedy, Burt Reynolds and Dolly Parton are both great in the lead roles. Well worth watching.

I have watched this film many, many times over the years and it's still as great as the first time I watched it. A superstar cast brings with it quality acting and a superb script. Don't think I've ever watched it without crying, so if you're a Steel Magnolias virgin, or coming back to it for a repeat viewing - be sure to have the tissues at the ready....
It also has one of my all-time favourite quotes, which is something I live by...
"I'd rather have one moment of wonderful than a lifetime of nothing special" - simply beautiful!

Yes, the cover picture is a recent picture of Dolly, also used on the CD re-issues of her old albums, but that is as sad as it gets...
These shows are from Dolly's TV series of 1976-77 and clearly states this on the cover if you read the back.

I rememeber watching these shows, enthralled as a kid, spellbound by Dolly's unique sound and look. When I heard these shows were coming out on this DVD set I was really pleased that they'd been saved as I'd not seen them in over two decades.

The costumes are right out of the 70s and Dolly's hair is higher than Amy Winehouse's but the performance and her charm have stood the test of time. Dolly performs many of her hits from that era and some songs that were done especially for the series ... Read More:

Dolly plays a fake radio Doctor and attracts the attention of a local reporter who falls for more than Dolly's visual advantages!

The will they wont they plot and accidental rise to fame will have you gripped - but more than that I can't reveal or I'll spoil the plot for you.

If you loved Bette Midler in Big Business, Julie Andrews in Princess Diaries, Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman or Sigourney Weaver in Heartbreakers, you'll love Straight Talk!
