I have loved the score nearly all my adult life, and even though it's a young mans film, I cannot be prejudiced being over 40.One of my parents was of that ilk when younger, and I can only be thankful that the unusual cigarettes were 10-15 times weaker then they are now, and aforementioned parent didn't develop schizophrenia, however, I digress..I can't see how they could have made a better film, what with wastrel hippies and so forth, and Treat Williams is a treat, as are most of the cast, and the music is in the top three of all musicals however staid they might have been in comparison..I just feel that the plot is a bit thin..glorious music, especially if you havn't heard it before, thin plot..an adorable film if your in your late teens and ... The Purple Rose of Cairo shows us just how vital a filmmaker Woody Allen is when removed from the bumbling, neurotic caricature, who often overwhelms the broader aspects of his work. Along with Love and Death, Annie Hall, Crimes and Misdemeanours and Bullets Over Broadway, The Purple Rose... is a bona-fide masterpiece; one of the greatest American films of the last fifty years, and further proof (as if it were needed?) that Allen is a filmmaker equal to (if not greater than) the more celebrated likes of Coppola, Spielberg, Kubrick, Scorsese, et al. Like those films aforementioned, Purple Rose demonstrates that Allen can take on board the influence of European cinema and combine it with a style of his own, creating a film that relies heavily on character ... I thought this was a brilliant film, very moving and non-sensational. The performance Cate Blanchett gives is outstanding, and the film tells the story of a brave journalist very well. I also thought it covered a lot of interesting issues and I would strongly recommend it.

I remember first watching this film as a child, and thought it was brilliant. The children of the story, although knowing they are "different" from the start, do not find out until towards the end of the film what the "difference" is. Both children are "gifted" with strange abilities, which prove useful during their adventure to help them get out of the scrapes they find themselves in.
The film starts with the children in a home, and the local millionaire finds out about their abilities and tries to adopt them, keeping the children prisoners at his home. Tia, the girl, has a "star case" and finds a hidden map in it, along with dreams she has been having about a ship wreck her and her brother, Tony were involved in as children.

Do not forget that with all of our sophisticated stuff, no one has gone to Mars yet. The year 1959 low budget and high hopes. The greatest threat to earth is a One Eyed, One Horned, Flying, Purple People Eater. And that sure seems strange to me.
However a ship Rocket M-1 was sent to Mars. On its return it must be guided by ground control. Only two survivors. One with a nasty growth and the other Dr. Iris 'Irish' Ryan (with angry red hair.) Now get out your popcorn and hear her tail of what happened on "The Angry Red Planet"

In 1967 John Wayne and Kirk Douglas starred in this fun, action/comic western directed by the efficient Burt Kennedy, better known as the screenwriter of several Bud Boeticher/Randolph Scoot westerns. "The War Wagon" may not be a classic western but it's essential in every John Wayne DVD Collection, since it represents one of the last sucessuful old fashioned westerns of the 1960ths. For the ones who really enjoid this one i remind you the second and last Wayne/Kennedy collaboration, 1973's "The Train Robbers", wich I like even more than the " War Wagon"....
