Pleasantville is an example of creative movie making ripe for hijacking by those with issues to grind.
Director Gary Ross samples social issues and cliches to illuminate this tale in a similar fashion to how historical footage was used in Forrest Gump.
Whatever your preconception of the 50's America ideal is...you'll find it woven in here.
If I studied it in any great depth, i imagine the characters illustrate our vulnerability when society engenders institutionalised thinking. Particulaly the negative aspects of institutionalised thinking.
Anyway, a hugely enjoyable, creative and memorable movie. A great credit to Gary Ross and all those involved.

I got this box set for £14.97 on amazon and they were an absolute bargain, my sons love them and i have to say i was surprised that i really enjoyed seeing them again, they're great family films.

After seeing Herbie Fully Loaded at the cinema, our young daughters (4 & 6 years) wanted to see the others when they realised there were more. We bought the complete series from Amazon (just waiting for Fully Loaded to come out!). They are good entertainment and very good value for our girls although their favourite is the latest. Well, what would you expect with all the great effects?!

A great family movie, even comparing this to the original keeps it in a favourable light. The movie has likable characters in it, keeping the Tramp quite a lot in the spot light as it is based around his son, the only one of the pups that resembles him in every way. Lady however plays a secondary role, not having as much screen time as desired but still has decent imput.

Predictable storyline, Scamp dislikes the rules of the house and thinks no one understands his desires to be a 'wild dog' (not knowing The Tramp himself was a wild dog) so he runs away and joins a pack of dogs, meeting with 'Angel' and falling in love. Has to make a choice between his new friends and his family at home. Its an obvious disney storyline but still an enjoyable. ... Read More:

In this 1960's remake a man who is ready to have his missing wife declared legally dead and remarry finds himself in a predicament when his first wife turns up after five years of being gone!

This remake turned out to be a hit right when 20th Century FOX studios had to have income. There is no question Doris Day made this remake so popular. Hooray!! At last one of the all time Disney Classics has finally appeared on DVD and make no mistake, its a gem! Wonderful presentation throughout, its enhanced by numerous extras, and an extra movie too, Lady and the Tramp 2. Picture quality and sound is amazin for such an old movie. I still recall seeing this on the local cinema during 1956, and it has remained one of my all time favourite Disney Classics. A viewer would have to have a hard heart not to be moved by the Italian Restaurant scene with the pasta and the meat balls. Scenes like this bring a lump to ones throat. Its just so aaaaaaaaawwwwwwww. A new generation of children will love this too I am sure. A wonderful box set, definetly not to be missed.
