Last Action Hero [1993]

directed by: John McTiernan

Release Date March 08, 2004
To sum up this film in one sentence I would say that it has an original and creative plotline, impressive action scenes and special effects, top quality acting and cameo appearances and a lot of witty humour. I loved this film as a kid, and even as I watch it now I still thoroughly enjoy it and understand a lot of more of the mature humour and in-jokes. I don't know why critics hate this film so much. The film is basically a comedy adventure that isn't taking itself too seriously and niether should its audience. There are a few moments of profound principlism and emotive plotlines, but generally, this film is a laugh. Arnie's acting is top notch and plays a character you generally start to really like, as well as the kid who doesn't overdo ... Read More:

Christmas Holiday [1944]

starring: Deanna Durbin, Gene Kelly, Richard Whorf, Dean Harens, Gladys George
directed by: Robert Siodmak

Release Date October 06, 2003
Not a particularly huge hit when released in 1944, 'Christmas Holiday' is really an extraordinary film, ahead of its time in my opinion. It is interesting to see Gene Kelly as the 'villian', not something we see often. When I first watched it, I really didn't know what to expect, and I can say that it left a huge impact on me, which led to my watching it twice more. It has to be one of the best (and underrated) black and white film. You won't be disappointed.

Nice DVD transfer too...special features only include a stills gallery, still, there are some nice shots here. Highly recommended film.

Laurel And Hardy - March Of The Wooden Soldiers [1934]

starring: Stan Laurel, Oliver Hardy, Charlotte Henry, Felix Knight, Henry Brandon
directed by: Charley Rogers, Gus Meins

Release Date October 21, 2002
Just a note to advise people that this Eureka release is Black And White only! The actual quality is fair without being too good. There is now a Dutch Version of this DVD which has only the Colour version, which despite a few niggles off reviewers is in my opinion amazing and totally eclipses all Black & White versions.

Laurel And Hardy - No. 26 - Country Hospital / Them Thar Hills / Tit For Tat

starring: Stan Laurel, Oliver Hardy, Billy Gilbert, May Wallace, Estelle Etterre
directed by: Charley Rogers, James Parrott

Release Date October 01, 1999
Three classic comedy capers with Stan & Ollie, County Hospital (1932), Them Thar Hills (1934) and Tit For Tat (1935). I must say, this is a very fine collection with first-released format in the titling.
County Hospital's funniest bit of action is when Stan lifts up a Pendulum and Ollie's foot comes down. The Doctor (Billy Gilbert) tries to grab it from him, but falls out the window (and you can imagine about Ollie!).
Them Thar Hills and Tit For Tat both feature quarrels with Charlie Hall. Tit For Tat is 50% funnier though, especially the bit when Stan & Ollie dump a Can of 'Rex Pure Lard' upside-down on Charlie Hall (with the lid off.
This is not to be missed.

Laurel And Hardy - The Laurel- Hardy Murder Case / Oliver The Eighth / Going Bye-Bye [1930]

starring: Stan Laurel, Jack Barty, Oliver Hardy, Fred Kelsey, Dell Henderson

Release Date April 17, 2000
Although this Video mostly contains Murder, it is worth watching for the 3 Comic Capers: The Laurel-Hardy Murder Case (1930), Oliver The Eighth (1934) and Going Bye-Bye (also 1934).
When we first heard of 'Oliver The Eighth', Dad thought Ollie was Like Henry The Eighth and had Several wives and Had them Executed or Divorced when he'd had enough of Them. But he was Wrong. Ollie is trying to Marry a Murderer! He doesn't know that until Jack Barty spills the Beans. I hope you like it and Going Bye-Bye and The Laurel-Hardy Murder Case.
You're Wanted on The Phone!
