I watched this movie in 3 instalments because it's nearly 3 hours long.
It was okay but the storyline and style of acting and actors were much like I've seen in countless gangster type films like this one.It was a little predictable and I think the fact that Martin Scorsese got the man who was writing the story as a book to delay finishing the book and help him write a screenplay lowered the quality.Screenplays usually work best when a finished and established book is adapted for the screen.

This has to be the best movie ever made. Just look at that stunning opening sequence. Few sights are as beautiful as seeing Robert De Niro prepare himself for another big fight. However, this is the calm before the storm as, in his best movie so far, Martin Scorcese shows us the the world of middle weight champion Jake La Motta, as the anger he uses to defeat his opponents in the boxing ring soon leaks out of him as he turns against the ones he loves. Scorcese brilliantly juxtaposes graceful and stylised boxing fight with documentary style home sequences to make the latter seem more shocking, and the former more cinematic. The editing and cinematography excell just about any film done when these two became important features in movies. Robert De Niro's ... Read More:

The Mechanic aka Killer of Killers (the title was changed to boost business with people who might have mistaken the original title for a car chase movie) is surprisingly good and, unusually for Michael Winner, also surprisingly well directed. A one-time Cliff Robertson vehicle (which at least explains the pipe Charles Bronson smokes throughout the film) and a clear influence on the Wachowski Brothers later script for Assassins, it sees Charles Bronson as the mob's most assured and ingenious hitman for some reason taking on an apprentice, attracted perhaps by his sociopathic indifference to death. The first half of the film is so sharp that it's a shame the rest of the movie starts down a more conventional road, but the action is well-handled, with a couple of way ... Read More:

This film is one of my faves.
Hugh Grant plays the character of a British man living in New York, who wants to marry the daughter of a mafia mobster.
There is are so many laughs in this film, my funniest moment is the scene in the steak house, where he tries to fit in with his fater in law to be and his mafia buddies, and it all goes horiibly wrong!
You have to buy this film, you wont be able to just watch it once.

The Vincent Price film is fun for most of its running time. Price is good value as always and there are some good set pieces - including the initial fire in the wax museum and some well staged fogbound stalking. However it is let down by a plodding pace and a weak supporting cast that gives the film a very 'buttoned down' fifties feel.
As noted by the first reviewer an 'extra' on this disc is the earlier Michael Curtiz version from the 1930s which is simply fantastic. This is scripted at a much faster pace and has a far more satisfying story based around a newspaper reporter (wise cracking blonde Glenda Farrel)investigating the case. It is filmed in the early two strip technicolor process which has a muted and limited colour range but in fact this really ... Read More:

This film won't make your blood pressure go up or down but it will keep you interested for its duration. The centre of interest are the brothers who can't get on well but who can't dislike each other enough to stay away from one another either.Something a lot of brothers and sisters in real life will relate to I think. And look out for John Mahoney who plays their dad and who was the dad of Frasier and Niles Crane in the tv sitcom Frasier.
