Originally filmed in colour (seasons one and two are re-coloured B&W but still look as good). My daughter [12] has all the first 5 seasons of Bewitched and loves them - she is a worst Witch and latterly a 'Charmed' all 8 seasons fan-atic. I asked my daughter what she thought of this season - she said 'All the seasons are all really good as long as it hasn't got that new guy in it', i.e. it can only be Dick York as Samantha's hubby Darrin for her. And I agree. Sadly Dick York became ill just before season 6 and couldn't film [he died in 1992], so he was replaced by the 'new' Darrin Stephens, Dick Sargent for all the remaining seasons. Dick Sargent never recaptured the magic of Dick York and Elizabeth Montgomery, and sadly by then the studio was ... Read More:

This is the best film ever but try as I might I can not get hold of it for region 2. If anyone knows where or how I can find this film to play on my DVD player, here in England, I would be grateful.
Same goes for "My Beautiful Son" AKA "Strange Relations" in the American market.

I first saw this film on TV 20 years ago and am very pleased that it has come out in a crisp DVD version. James Stewart gives a very watchable portrayal of the struggle and triumph of the famous American musician, while June Allyson gives a moving performance that shows that her star on the Walk of Fame is richly merited. The film contains some of Miller's most famous compositions like In the Mood - the climax of this in the film against the background of a German air raid is heartening as well as causing the audience within the film to cheer and applaud. A very enjoyable way to spend the afternoon (or later). Highly recommended.

There are a number of good things about Silk Stockings, but there also is a professional finality about the movie that makes it easier to observe than to be delighted by it. It was one of the last of the big MGM musicals coming from Arthur Freed's production unit. It was the last musical Fred Astaire made as the lead. It was the last film directed by Rouben Mamoulian. It was based on the last Broadway musical Cole Porter wrote. Silk Stockings also was used to make a statement about the excesses some thought were ruining films and music...the advent of rock and roll and the technological changes in films with wide screen and stereo sound. It even takes a crack at the fashion for ballet in many musicals. You've got to be very clever and original ... Read More:

Really enjoyed this seasonal heartwarmer with the under-rated Jenny McCarthy on top form & looking gorgeous ! A must for any of Jenny's Fans & anybody who likes christmas movies...
Release Date July 21, 2003
This is typical of the American film type that insists that they always win ..everywhere... even when they weren't there.
The acting is the sort of "gung ho" trash we have to expect, with little showing of the true talent that director and star actually had. There are times during the movie you just want to cringe at the failure to come to grips with the truth of war.
Perhaps the thought that might come to the mind of any 14th Army man watching this film is that if the GI troops were as good as shown then things should have gone differently in Korea, Vietnam, Lebanon, Somalia, Iraq and Afganistan.

This glossy and sophisticated romp with Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward is delicious fluff. From the opening title song by Sinatra and the early voice-over of Newman comparing a group of bargain hunting women to a herd of cattle, we know this one is going to be fun indeed. Made in 1963 when both were at their finest, the chemistry between the two leads carries this film to make it the most entertaining piece of nonsense you're likely to ever see.
Samantha Blake (Woodward) buys, or steals, all the latest fashions from around the world for her department store. Her boss Joe Bergner (George Tobias) gets it into his head to go to Paris and 'steal' the hottest new fashions and off goes Samantha and Leena (Thelma Ritter) to the City of Lights. Read More:

This is the story of Eddie Foy and the Seven Little Foys and their path to Broadway fame. The film is a child of its time - a piece of pure escapism. Many of the biographical details have been tweeked to make the story flow but who cares? With Bob Hope in the movie you dont expect realism. A highlight of the film is Jimmy Cagney reprising his role as George M Cohan and tapdancing and then performing a soft shoe shuffle with Bob Hope. Hope is good in this film. One of the rare occassions he is acting and not just being Bob Hope. For pure entertainment this should not be missed.

If you like adventure and romance, this is the series for you. In particular, the episode entitled "The Hostage" is notable for the scene where a lovely noblewoman falls from her horse into a river and is rescued by our highwayman hero. She awakes to find herself in bed and then realizes that she is unclothed! With what delicacy the scene is handled when this handsome man tells her: "Yes, I undressed you Madam" and realizing she is suffering from amnesia, nurses her to health, showing a love and respect for this lady - even the scratch on her face adds to her beauty! - true, this is perhaps unlike the real character of Turpin, but it makes wonderful viewing. It is a tribute to Paul Knight, Sidney Cole and Richard Carpenter, not forgetting the music of Denis ... Read More:
