Pleasantville is an example of creative movie making ripe for hijacking by those with issues to grind.
Director Gary Ross samples social issues and cliches to illuminate this tale in a similar fashion to how historical footage was used in Forrest Gump.
Whatever your preconception of the 50's America ideal is...you'll find it woven in here.
If I studied it in any great depth, i imagine the characters illustrate our vulnerability when society engenders institutionalised thinking. Particulaly the negative aspects of institutionalised thinking.
Anyway, a hugely enjoyable, creative and memorable movie. A great credit to Gary Ross and all those involved.

Saw this DVD in my local store and thought it looked like the sort of thing i'd enjoy (i like my horror!) and got it out. I really liked it. Story centres around, bunch of good-looking college kids on their way to spring break take a 'detour' and end up in the ironically named southern town of 'Pleasent Valley'. After initially welcoming the strangers into their small town by the seemingly hospitable if slightly strange inhabitants, who persuade them to stay and take part in their 'GUTS AND GLORY' festival, the group soon begin to suspect something is wrong as members of their party start to get separated from the rest and go missing. Detroit Rock City [1999]

This has to be one of my favourite films. Although, it definately helps to be a rock fan (even if not necessarily a KISS fan - as I'm not especially) in order to enjoy this film and relate to these really likable characters.

It's not just the comedy that makes this film great. It's that you really care about all four guys, who are brilliantly cast. It's often compared to films like Road Trip and Amercian Pie, but I feel it has alot more depth than films in that genre.

This film really touched me.

It was amazing to see how one persons life can be affected and changed by anothers.
Some people stick there noses up at mental health as they think of it as people being crazy but you should really see this film and you will discover how taking on ones problems, can help you on your road to recovery.

Excellent film!!

Eric Christian Olsen plays his part very well as the Gorgeous Randy who begins to get jelous after Jim moves in on his mum and takes his little brother, Skeet (Jeremy Sumpter) under his wing. Skeet is torn apart having to choose between his brother and the pro surfer he longs to replace his late father.Hot suirf dudes and beautiful california sun with a touching, thrilling storyline.
