I cannot but agree with all the other reviews. It is a joy to watch the series of really splendid landscape portraits. The presenter may be a bit chatty at times, too much of a media chap, and the background music at times turns into background noise, i.e. it gets too loud, but it provides great viewing altogether. The picture quality is excellent!

yes, not the nine o'clock news is one of the best ever but why oh why do we have to have the "best of" - I loved NTNOCN and would like to see the whole series and not just the best of selected by the BBC...great comedy which even my kids enjoy (!!!which shows it isn't dated) - please please just release the lot!!!!!!!
Release Date August 30, 2004
You've got to love this show; it's just a shame the DVD's are edited and BBC don't seem to be bothered about releasing any more material. The BBC has released Red Dwarf, Blackadder etc on DVD in their entirety and un-edited but Not the Nine O'Clock News appears to have been overlooked. Extras and bonus features would be nice but BBC please, please, please give the show the respect it deserves and release the full series' and unedited.

When I saw this film had Mel Smith and Griff Rhys Jones in it I thought it must be funny and watched it. So glad I did! Excellent plotline, with some cracking pieces of script and real laugh-out-loud moments. Recommend this film to anyone with a funny bone!!

This british film of the late nineties is pretty average, but whom I kidding, I only brought it for Samantha Janus naked in the shower, and for that reason it's one of the greatest films ever!

After reading the classic Milligan novel, I looked forward to seeing how Terence Ryan had adapted the screenplay to suit Spike's writing. And was most impressed with the results!
The book is a great read although somewhat confusing for those not familar with Spike Milligan's sense of humour or logic and the film manages to stay largely faithful to the original plot with much of Spike's original dialogue evident. It's also testament to Spike's sense of humour and style of writing that the film could be created almost 40 years after publication of the book and still remain fresh.
The literary characters are brought convincingly to life by an impressive cast and the locations are similarly recreated and filmed in such a way to be faithful ... Read More:

I've been an Murder Myster fan from I was very young, growing up with a mother who watched Miss Marple, Sherlock Holmes, Hercule Poriot, Murder She Wrote etc. So, it was a difficult not to get interested and become a fan of these programmes. But I must admit my favourite is Miss Marple the old granny type who pretends to be a dottery but is so not, and always seems to outwit the male detectives and solve the cases before they can even figure it out. My two favourite Miss Marple actresses have been of course Margaret Rutherford and Joan Hickson, in my book they were the two that best fitted the part. So you can imagine that I wasn't to impressed when I heard that there where some new remakes of Miss Marple cases like 4.50 From Paddington, The Body in the Library, ... Read More:

This was easily one of the highlights of TV in 2004, and definitely the best thing to grace ITV. Sadly it didn't do the business in the ratings - so if you missed out on the chance to see it, don't make that mistake twice.
Sharply scripted with warmth, wit and a certain darkness (as you'd expect from Russell T Davies), beautifully acted, and for once a primetime drama that wasn't set in London or Manchester. Perhaps the 'Welshness' put off a mainstream audience? If so, it's a shame because it's genuinely refreshing to see Welsh people and places on screen (a tactic being used more recently, but not as obviously, in the rather more successful Doctor Who relaunch). Its original central idea also works in its favour in a world full of dull police, hospital ... Read More:
