Just bought this for my daugter and its a superb buy. its easy to forget how good these classic musicals are. this perticular edition is great becasue it includes the Dance and singalong versions of the song. you are shown through all the moves for perticular songs and then can dance to them like a pro well maybe not. Only negative and its a really small point as this is fantastic value is there are only 3 dance along songs would have been great with more. still 5* though!

This set of seven short comedy narratives on the sins of modern man is a joy to watch. It is far cleverer than at first it may appear and it took me a couple of viewings to pick up all the satire in this richly written series of sketches. They are all directed with a sense of real fun and show a flair for visual comedy. The scenarios are mostly sharp and some are very funny. Some are stronger than others for sure, but they're all good in their own way. The fluidity of it all is suddenly challenged by the sixth sketch on sloth, written and performed by Spike Milligan, which is undeniably brilliant, but just looks out of kilter with the others with its almost existentialist humour and its black and white silent comedy format (although no doubt intended to emphasise ... The Goon's are a national institution! They, and especially Spike Milligan, were the god fathers of modern comedy and this gives a rare glimpse into how the Goons actually did those mad stories. My advice to any one who want's to buy the Last Goon Show of All is buy the CD. On the CD, you get the entire show, uncut and a bonus documentry. On this video you get a brilliantly funny story marking the end of one the greatest comedy partnerships of all time, cut to shreads for the sake of fitting it onto a tape! It's not as if the cut's are partiulally good ones either! They miss out virtually an entire scene from the start when Ghrythpipe Fin are Moriarty are talking about there life on the Westminster rubbish dump and consequently you miss most of the jokes that start ... In my opinion this was a somewhat disappointing film despite it`s all star cast. However the section with Ian Carmichael and Alfie Bass was very funny and well written. The rest of the sketches were not up to the usual standard that you would expect from these very good performers.

Bought this DVD from Vicpine and I agree it is a terrible copy of the original. I have the original on BETA and was very disappointed with this DVD. I agree with the comment that there needs to be a much better rendering of this lovely movie than what I purchased. The colour is awful and it is fuzzy. Close your eyes and listen to the music and it might be OK!!
