I bought this because of the over the top gore and that is exactly what I got. We're talking: severed limbs and stumps geysering blood like a fireman's hose, spurting finger stumps, jetting necks, amputations and slashings of all kinds.

We're also talking over the top characters: who shrug off nails in the head and amputations and can take more hits than Godzilla before keeling over, who cackle as they maim, mutilate and murder innocents for the slightest excuse (or none at all but because they -the yakuza boss, his wife, and son -happen to be gleeful sadists).

I was so excited when I got this movie. I collect asian ghosts films, martial arts movies and love horror video games and was thrilled to get this movie. The trailers made this film look great. Well, the film does look great and the alternate world setting is interesting (though we're not really given enough insight into it.) But a mad warrior that loves to battle should be able to battle. Tak Sakaguchi is an outright hero in Kitamura's Versus, but he shouldn't have directed the fight scenes in this film with the other chap (can't remember his name....Mo somebody). There was no impact, the wrestling moves didn't look too clever and he didn't ever take out his 'sword' from the sheath.(I don't want to spoil that surprise.) I would liked to ... Read More:
