I bought the thorn birds series 1 dvds as a gift, and was about to send them back as she said they where not complete when I realized they are double sided dvd's. So she is going to check them out.It would have been nice of Warner Bro to have put a note on the case, perhaps the ink cost to much any way watch this space because if its wrong Ill be back to tell you. ps app it's quite racey!!! prob why my x watched it when I was at work...

I am amazed at the support for this movie, and can only assume it's testosterone fuelled young men, as for me RAMBO is disappointing. The movie tries to close the circle on John Rambo, and close the legacy of the Rambo series. With Rocky it worked but here it doesn't.

Why? well because the film is just an excuse to show unbelievable violence and have a blast through a machine gun bursting heads and limbs in every direction. Most Directors stop short of showing violence to children, but Stallone doesn't hold back here - it's quite shocking in parts.

Well it is a pretty stand alone season since Pam was dreaming it all up ! It is a bit far-fetched with Angelica going on a killing spree & trying to pretend that a very rich shipper is still alive . Seeing JR caring for his son and Donna & Ray's grief over the loss of their child injects realism into things a bit by showing the characters as more multi-dimensional than one might think at first . Pam going missing in South America invokes memories of Jock's death in an accident there and Mark returning provides Pam with some consolation after Bobbies death .

Sue Ellen finds yet another boyfriend while JR schemes and annoys the cartel - so no change there then ! It is lovely to see the portrait of Jock ... Read More:

Messiah 1 & 2. Such an interesting offering from the BBC and Paramount. It's really well written, well acted and well shot. The international market ensured there was a need for London buses and a few famous landmarks to denote place. One of it's failings is the communication of time/season. In the Boris Starling book (incidently the author makes an appearence as Bartholomew) there is an acute sense of seasonal change and the oppressive heat of a summer in London- it's a minor gripe. It's such a clever, taut filmic style BBC series.

I'm always on the lookout for good old fashioned family movies with no innapropriate moments that I can share with my family - and this is one of them.
However this film is better than I suspected it would be from the synopsis, and has quite a lot of emotional depth - especially in the relationships between Kurt Rusell, his father as played by Kris Kristofersen (inspired casting) and his daughter as played by Dakota Fanning (who incidentally gives a very strong performance). Dreamer neatly avoids most of the traps of sugary sweetness that characterize this type of film when made by (for example) Disney, and instead takes a fairly honest look at dysfunctional relationships, dissapointment and the hard choices which adults are forced to make which don't always make sense when seen ... A great film. Not a cryer normally I was wet-eyed at the end of this one. The film concerns the relationship between two sisters; the wayward pretty one and the older sister/clever lawyer, that breaks down allowing each of them to develop that part of their character normally fulfilled by the other one. The lawyer finds a man and the wayward one takes on responsibility. In doing so they also find the missing bits of their family and themselves. As soon as it finished I wanted to watch it again. Highly recommended. Especially good for anyone who ever envied their siblings - you will get this film like no-one else.
