Deadwood puts all the other stuff to be found on the telly way into the shade...in fact it kicks the rest into crapdom. The dialogue here is excellent, the story-lines are believable, intelligent and clever, and the suspense kicks in from the beginning. The characters are superb, human, real. Someone here has made a lot of effort to get things right and should be commended for their work. I will repeat myself here....the dialogue, the script, is excellent. If I could give this 6 or more than 5 stars I then would. Brilliant. Brilliant. Brilliant. Thank you Mr Milch.

Jason Reitman should be pleased as punch with his superb directorial debut about a spokesman working for the American tobacco industry. The script simply bursts with wit, rich dialogue and snappy satirical shifts and it is anchored by a fabulous performance from the excellent Aaron Eckhart as Nick Naylor, a disarming spin doctor who defends his amoral employers against the most damning of odds.
I hugely enjoyed this film and it is piercingly funny in places, often cutting quite close to the bone. As morally ambiguous as Naylor is, Eckhart plays him with such consummate charm that you almost find yourself cheering him on, as he campaigns for people's right to smoke (incidentally, the film has some very insightful things to say about free ... The trials and tribulations of a washed out FBI agent trying to save a young autistic boy's life, who has accidentally decrypted a top NSA encryption code.
Cast and crew deliver a competent thriller in which which Bruce Willis can save the day in his own way and still be likable if not a bit over the top. The plot (from Ryne Douglas Pearson's thriller "Simple Simon" has been simplified into something quite simple indeed (to the verge of unbelievability), but the real surprise is the 12-year old actor Miko Hughes who - even more than in the book - succeeds in bringing alive the trials of an autistic boy; he even spent time within a real school for autistic children, that also became part of the movie. The chemistry between the boy and the brute ... Read More:

To say that 'the essence of Dickens is perfectly rendered' (as claimed by one reviewer) in this dumbed-down monstrosity is an insult to the intelligence of anyone who has read the original. Everything that made the original story great, including the plot twists, is stripped out, leaving a withered husk of the story, and creating (using the term loosely) a basic, rather tedious love story. I was actually left angry after watching this. It is sad that society has degraded to the level of intelligence that is the target audience of what can only be described as a hate crime against Dickens.

I would have preferred a happy ending. This movie earns 5 stars even though it was so deeply depressing because of the masterful acting and beautiful scene shots.
Kathy gets evicted from her house because she failed to pay a tax that the county mistakenly charged her with. It opens with her laying in bed and then shuffling to the door amidst unopened mail on the floor by the front door. The county evicts her and here begins the drama where small errors in judgment escalate into a nightmare. You keep thinking through the whole movie - if she only opened her stinking mail none of this would have happened. Even her lawyer asks her why she didn't open her mail.
Enter Behrani, an Iranian immigrant played by Ben Kingsley). He is a very hard working ... Read More:

I have to admit to being slightly puzzled by some of the negative reviews I have seen about this film. I saw this at the cinema when it came out and had quite low expectations of it. Therefore, I was surprised by how chilling it really is. Combined with the acting skills of Cate Blanchett, Keanu Reeves, "Buddy" (Phoebe's brother in Friends) and Hilary Swank, this really is a better then average supernatural yarn.
A young girl is missing and psychic Annie has visions of her decomposing body. But who is the murderer?
The relationship between Cate Blanchett and her on screen children is touching and relieves the tension well from some of the more frightening scenes. I actually had a nightmare after watching this film and it involved violins! (Watch the film to ... Read More:

Logan is a 13 year old male living in a Santa Cruz neighbourhood. Lions have been seen in the surrounding areas, and the populace are taught to hate and fear them. Logan identifies with these maligned creatures - shunned and avoided by the rest of society. Although aware that he is gay, Logan is unable yet to voice this to his best friend; his masturbatory fantasies about older guys at school and Lycra-clad wrestlers on TV are confined to the privacy of his bed at night-time. In the course of the film, Logan develops an attraction to an older boy at school - Rodeo - who is also an outsider, and aims to seduce him through phone sex and friendship.
'Wild Tigers' is an incredibly beautiful film, in all senses. Aesthetically it is a stunning work of arthouse cinema, and was widely ... Read More:

i myself disagree with the norm on this film. the plot is incouraging, gallo is once again exceptional, my quarms with the film come in the form of the police insider (the HOMEBOY) from at least 10 mins into the film you can spot him, at first i put it down to poor acting but in my opinion the script is just generally flawed and in my opinion the he is victim to rather harsh stereotyping. Sutherland makes a fair attempt at this movie and overall its not a go ot of your way to see movie, but if it were on film four watch it for vincent gallo-If your a gallo fan steer towards one of his directorial creations: Buffalo 66 etc

The Kasdan brothers work has been much underated in recent years. But for my money "Zero Effect" is their best yet. Ok so whats the fuss about, its just another oddball detective story, but it twists and turns so beautifully and all Without the need for gratuitous sex and violence. Its like "Nero Woolfe" on acid. Pullman is perfectly cast as the self proclaimed greatest criminal detective alive and Ben Stiller is superb as Zero's only real link to the outside world. An outside world Zero is forced to confront, transform, and be transformed by.Other supporting roles are equally well acted and the choice of music is both cliche and moving- a rare thing indeed. While I admit that this movie dosen't have mass appeal.Within ...
