Praise has to go to the team that made this series; for not leaving it with a predictable finale. In the most annoying ending of all time...it ended in the only way it could have.

The episode that I keep on revisiting is the first one. It sets the scene so perfectly. Each of the main characters are shown for who they really are.

'Sapranos' is more of a slow burner that it's big screen cinematic cousins, but if you like gangster films such as 'Scarface' or 'Godfather' you will probably love 'Sopranos'.

Tony Soprano is a realistic everyday gangster with all of the usual troubles that beset a hard-working, married businessman. He doesn't have much of the glitz and glamour usually associated with crime, with the exception of his house and expensive wife.

Roumour has it that HBO decided to cancel Sapranos but said that they would fund six series. The Sapranos team wanted to complete seven series; so here is series 6 (part 1) followed later by series 6 (part 2, not series 7!). I like their cheek. I like their programmes.

This is a review of the box set itself, since obviously the show gets 5 stars and we all know how good that is - so in response to an earlier review calling for comments on the packaging, here's my take.

There's an outer sleeve showing all the characters lined up as you can see on the product image. Inside this you pull out the oblong box which is also shown. This has the words "The Sopranos" along it. This box splits in two and reveals two sides, with 15 discs on each. Each disc is on its own sleeve and is tucked away to reveal just a number, from 1-4 (since this is how many discs are in each season - season 6 is in two parts therefore 8 discs).

YOU HAVE TO GET UP AND TURN THE BLOODY DVD OVER TO WATCH THE SECOND HALF OF THE FILM!!!!!

I mean, please accept my apologies, but I thought we were in the 21st century? I havent had to turn anything over since listening to my 'Best of the Clash' LP back in the early 90's pre CD days!

Why this DVD is still available I don't know.

Buy the special edition instead and watch one of cinema's greatest achievements UN-INTERRUPTED.

Although the show itself deserves a 5-star rating, I had to give this sale 4 stars because of the price. I have been a fan pf the Sopranos from the very start and can watch all seasons over and over again. However, after buying this on amazon for almost £120 I then saw a deluxe version box set (with extra footage and special features) for almost half the price! Nevertheless the show is brilliant, the DVDs are fantastic quality so it was well worth the money!

There's a Little Red Riding-hood, a Big Bad Wolf, and a host of other hacker characters offering an eye fest of couture - they're all clothed by Jean Paul Gaultier - and who off-screen must have been frantically slipping in and out of this wonderful gear. Iain Softley has woven sound into image in a beautiful way, some of the best in the movies I guess, and though the dialogue itself doesn't rate as literature it's as expressive as the music and other noises in its own way. The hacker cast is great - all of them - and I've watched this film time and again, fast-forwarding on only three short scenes. If only the troubles of growing up were as good as this for all of us!
