Très sympathique groupe avec un beau et jeune lecteur (le seul homme de ce cercle austenien). Film plus romantique que le livre dont il est extrait.
Mais je pense qu'il faut avoir lu au moins le livre et si possible tous les romans de Jane Austen pour en apprécier le déroulement en patchwork et la saveur de certaines situations. Et si si l'on a été ce type de lectrice on ne peut que se délecter et être saisie de l'envie d'être la septième du club !

The Deadly Affair is one of the better John Le Carre screen adaptations. Based on 'Call For the Dead,' the title's not the only name change: though he's called Charles Dobbs here, James Mason is really George Smiley while Maximilian Schell's character also undergoes a name change from The Spy Who Came In from the Cold because Paramount still owned the character names. Shot in 1966, when Britain seemed to be closed due to bad weather (a look made even grimmer by Freddie Young pre-exposing the film stock to mute the colours), Sidney Lumet's low-key and very small-scale thriller works much successfully on screen than you might expect. Peter is very lucky because he can fly about all day and make Captain Hook's life a misery. I bought the American version of this also because there is a scene cut out of the UK version. This is the scene where Hook and Peter are in the Black Castle. I read this on the Internet a few days ago and then bought the US version. It has arrive today and works okay.

Both films are excellent,UK and the US version.

This film has steadily accrued a lot of interest in its content over the 40 years since it was made, which has really brought a total sea change to the way we live and to social attitudes. And succeeds ! This early example of Woody Allen's genius has been somewhat superceded by his later efforts but still remains fresh and frequently hilarious. The jokes come thick and fast, some verging a little on the puerile side but the bestiality sketch and the sperms are products of sheer brilliance. An enjoyable, if not great, Allen film and a worthy addition to any collector's stockpile.
