I bought this because my little girl loves the story of Rapunzel but this was nothing like the original story. Yes she has long hair and yes her name is Rapunzel but that is it. She did enjoy watching it but Rapunzel it is not.
Release Date October 20, 2003
Let's get the perspective clear from the start: I grew up despising Barbie in all her guises - her only discernable use was as legitimate target practice for my action man. I resisted all things Barbie until my daughter was introduced to her via this exposition at a friend's house and Santa caved in on her fourth Christmas. Seen through the eyes of a parent, this film does terrible things to Tchaikovsky's masterpiece - cutsie animals, lavender unicorns and a changed ending but my daughter was captivated by this, the best of the series. By that magic ability that six-year-old girls possess that enables them to wrap fathers round their little fingers, she has since added most of the others, though this remains the favourite.

I liked the fact the characters were all mixed up - not all devastatingly attractive - quite ordinary really most of them. It seems a bit pedestrian for quite a long time as the different characters are introduced. But things start to come together as they meet and mix and the film seems to go in an arc towards the (perhaps predictable) ending. Quite funny, quite "ordinary" film. Not over the top on the emotions, actually quite true to life in some ways. Everyone has their own life, their own dramas and I think it was good that the main gay relationship was portrayed as really "only" another "unique" relationship of two people where no-one's perfect and everyone is hung up a bit about something. Makes a change from the romantic "young guys falling ... Read More:

This anime movie is the perfect way to end the Gundam Wing story. The Gundam series have been one of the most popular anime collections in Japan and has sucked America and Europe into its story twists and excitement over the past few years. Its success speaks for itself. It took me a while to find this movie and I had almost given up hope when I saw it hiding on a shelf in a small comic book shop. Had I known that Amazon stored many copies then I would have rushed straight on and bought it.
One thing I can say about Endless Waltz is that it is captivating. The plot has been well thought out and the animation beautifully created. The DVD menu is simple to use and has a few extras that fans might find interesting. One problem that I ... Read More:

Release Date September 22, 2003
This film has everything you could want from a horror film: a cute cast (especially the lead), lots of errant machinery, dodgy flashlights, lightning, power failures, movement in the shadows, and glimpsed monsters, oh, and a very cute lead. There's even a full moon (well, nearly full). It doesn't break any new ground but it does succeed in achieving an effective sense of mounting dread. The performances from the mostly unknown (and did I mention cute?) cast are good, and the filming and effects are polished; particularly the monsters, which move in a wonderfully creepy way. It even manages a neat and satisfying ending. Although in the grand scheme of all things cinematic this film only warrants three stars in the world of horror flicks it easily deserves ... Read More:

Earthsea was never broadcast in my country. Despite the fact that most of Ursula Le Guin's fans have trashed this film, I was still interested in seeing it for myself, so I ordered the DVD. And I was very pleasantly surprised.
I feel that this film has been unfairly criticised because of the fact that it differs so significantly from the source material. However, I found this to count in the film's favour. In general, when I have read a book, and especially if I've enjoyed it, I feel that a film adaptation should, or MUST, differ significantly from the book. Why? Because if it doesn't, then the film is completely redundant and serves no purpose whatsoever. I feel that if and when I want to go through the same plot, with the same characters, I'll ...
