After what seems ages and ages a box set of William Hanna and Joseph Barbera unique creation: The Flintstones, that stone age family from the town of Bedrock. This first series came out in the early 1960s and still has a place in many people affections today. Fred and Wilma Flintstone live in the stone age and yet in a wacky way they seem to have all kinds of mod cons. Their neighbours and best friends are Barney and Betty Rubble. Fred and Barney get into all kinds of trouble together and they seem to be constantly finding ways to keep their wayward behaviour from Wilma and Betty. Extra features in this DVD Box Set includes “All About The Flintstones”, “Wacky Inventions” and “The Flagstones” the pilot ... Read More:

now it may be a classic, but i'm afraid i was really disappointed with this film. my 5 yr old was frankly bored watching this, it was very slow to get moving. the story line was not what i was expecting. the jimmney cricket / conscience was to abstract for him to understand in the way it was presented. and there was a terrible bit later on with pinnochio getting drunk and smoking cigars. that bit raised a few tricky questions.
what i had expected the main story line to be - pinnochio's nose growing long when he lied, occured only once for about 20 seconds in the middle of the film and never again.
we will not be watching this one again
sadly not enjoyable or educational

One aspect of the series is Erin Gray, the co-star of this television program who played Wilma Deering. She is definately eye candy and I recommend the series if not for the clever plots (which reminds you of Star Trek), but for Erin Gray in spandex. Even better, I get to meet Gray personally at the Mid-Atlantic Nostalgia Convention in Aberdeen, Maryland in September. I plan to get an autograph and have my picture taken with her. If you are not familiar with this talented and beautiful actress, this TV series shows just how good she is. Amazon.com has a great price so grab your copy today.

this film started quite promisingly, but then suddenly slowed down and then picked up. rather an uneven film but still has good scenes.
james cagney simply steals the film with another riveting performance but with a different style as well.this time, he isn't quite so keen to get involved in any shady dealings.(i would have thought he'd have enough on his mind with trying to prove his innocence)
there is certainly a gritty, uncompromising atmosphere, especially in the prison scenes; corrupt prison officials, mentally unbalanced convicts.who wants to do time?
teaming up cagney with george raft was a good move. they work well together. a shame raft didn't make it to the A list of stars; not the best actor i've seen, but good enough.

So, uh, good day, eh? Unless you're a complete hoser, you can't help but love Strange Brew, one of the funniest dumb movies ever made. My introduction to Bob and Doug McKenzie cam in the form of their hit song, Take Off, which I thought was hilarious. Having created the McKenzie brothers on Canada's SCTV, it was only natural that Dave Thomas and Rick Moranis would further expand their comic empire by making a movie. Strange Brew is that film, and it really is hilarious. Most low-budget films with a mere farce of a plot would tank, but the boys from the Great White North strike gold - largely because the film's only real purpose is to give the boys an hour and a half to be Bob and Doug McKenzie. The real beauty part of it all, though, is the fact that the story actually plays off ... Read More:
