I am quite addicted to series box sets at the moment, I got carnivale as a christmas present and from the moment i put the first disk in i was hooked!
The plan was to make quite a few more series of Carnivale but it was cancelled :( but I was satisfied by the end of series 2 that the story was complete.
Wonderful and superb televsion that makes you think about it for ages after.

These are the sort of vampire movies that Hammer should have been making in the 70's. All the Hammer sequels failed to match the original because Christopher Lee was given less and less to do.
In these updatings of the vampire legend Robert Quarry is exactly what Christopher Lee should have been in the later Hammer sequels. Count Yorga is still a blood-sucking fiend at heart but he is quite happy to sit and discuss the supernatural with a Doctor during the first film. He cuts quite a dash, and amongst the many vampire films I've seen, his portrayal is one of the very best.
Unlike Hammer again, there is no attempt to link these two films. The second film does not seem to follow the original film, and no explanation ... Read More:

Ice Cube's latest flick Barbershop acts as a commentary on the value of history in a community and that it takes people who care to make a community work. To do this, the movie spends a day in the life of the small barber shop, set in Chicago. The central conflict is Ice Cube, despite his better judgement, sells the shop to a loan shark because he has tried several get-rich-quick schemes which, unsurprisingly, has failed to pay off.
At the beginning of the movie we see Ice Cube trying to work on his recording studio, which is a long way from being operational. Ice Cube gets so caught up in this current project, of which there have been many precedents, that when the offer comes to sell the shop he jumps at it. The loanshark ... Read More:

The Turning revolves around Cliff who returns home very angrily because 4 years earlier his family had been on the verge of breaking up. He takes revenge by attempting to dissolve his fathers new relationship. The film really shows the depth of Giliian's acting ability. She plays Cliffs girlfriend who he returns to after leaving her 4 years earlier. The film IS good and unfortunately it is overshadowed to an extent by Gillian Andersons later success but she has brought this film into light and without her it would be just another good film that didnt have commercial success because of lack of advertising due to not particulatrly big production company

Thankfully there is no need to have watched the first movie to get into this sequel. The actual movie is a bit average to put it mildly. OK to watch something you don't have to think about too much, with almost dream-like sets and fight scenes.
The DVD has a few extras, but not a lot. There are some outtakes, which don't really amount to much. Some behind the scenes footage of the stunts and wire work, which are a little boring and then the trailer for the movie.
I bought this DVD mainly to see the late Kevin Smith(as Dogon) as he tragically died after completing the filming of this movie. For all Kevin Smith(Xena/Hercules) fans, there is a touching dedication to him at the end of the movie.
Unfortunately both the movie and the ... Read More:

This movie explores today's racial and economic divides in religious settings. In today's Politically correct world we like to think they do not exist, but they do. This movie has an underlying theme of reconciliation. You cannot solve problems by just throwing money at them. You need to be involved in order to understand one another and grow. Thereby being able to use whatever strengths you have to aid your community.
The storyline shows a pastor of a large suburban mega church and a pastor who preaches to gang members, teen mothers and drug addicts, are suddenly thrown together in a tough neighborhood and forced to work together. Both pastors, as well as other characters in this movie, go through significant changes as they over come their prejudices ... Read More:
