James Mason gives two very different impersonations of Rommel, every Brit's favorite Nazi general, in The Desert Fox and The Desert Rats. The former is a solid biopic more concerned with his involvement in the plot to assassinate Hitler than his exploits in Africa, painting him as an honorable man unable to believe just how insane Hitler is until it is too late, while the latter is a standard war movie set against the siege of Tobruk slightly elevated by Robert Wise's direction but which still manages to feel overlong at an hour and a half. Richard Burton and Robert Newton are the top-liners, but Mason turns up for an extended cameo as a dastardly Nazi swine of the "Die, Englander pigdog" comic strip variety.

This is the best film about Jesus that I have ever watched.
It will take you through a roller coaster of emotions as you watch it. The actor who plays Jesus is brilliant. In one scene where he is asked if he is really the son of god, Jesus replies 'I am HE!'. Simply great. Another great scene, and there are pleanty, is when he is in a church in Jerusuleam and stands up and starts teaching the others in the church about god. Everyone should seriously watch this film, you will enjoy it emensley.

The Robe tells the story of the Roman Centurion Marcellus Gallio who was in charge of the Crucifixion of Christ, almost as an aside to the real point of the fil what happened to the Robe of Christ which was taken off him during the Crucifixion.
This is a rather spiritual and inspiring film. I was moved - but then again I would be! I did find the film a little long and it looks dated now.

All I have got to say is that John Wayne redeems himself in this, his final movie. I got so disillusioned with him in True Grit, Rooster Cockburn and Brannigan that I had to make a hard decision about whether I should watch this film at all. I made the right decision. I consider myself an aficianado of the genre, and this Western was a Western to end all Westerns. John Wayne knew it and he put every last drop of his being into it. Sadly, very few notable Westerns were made subsequent to this apart from Tom Horn.

A really fine and resonant film. Brilliant historical detail and great acting by Heston, Guy Stockwell and Richard Boone. Rosemary Forsyth is lovely and plays a rather undeveloped part well. Set design, costume and action scenes are first class, script is a bit heavy-handed but a tremendously entertaining and rewarding film.

The more reviews a film receives, the less justice there would seem to be for offering another, but I'll try and justify this one, by saying that, even if you live in the Home Counties, you're part of this story, so you should see this, and many of Wayne's other rides-over-the-range; for it's how we could deal with our own villainy, if only the lawgiver's, and their electors, hadn't lost the moral courage, hadn't lost the morals themselves, and we could find someone to trust of this stature to protect us,since we are questioned for protecting ourselves, by those who always
find that there are, coincidentaly, just enough policemen to patrol the steps of Number 10, whatever the shortages may be elsewhere.
The cold-hearted evil at the beginning is only bearable, ... Read More:
