This is one of the typical 80s science fiction/post-holocaust/futuristic movies. Don't expect present day effects, it won't have them, but if you -like me- love the 80s, then this is a movie for you. The scenario is simple but original, the characters are well rounded, the effects are very good for their time. Overall Cherry 2000 is a very satisfactory movie.

ever since i saw this film back in the early nineties i have always enjoyed it (yes it was made in 1983 i saw the repeats on tv). the characters were played by good actors eg gene hackman, fred ward and patrick swayze. randal tex cobb always seems to play the same character in all his films not in a bad way as hes entertaining in this film. the action still manages to entertain especially the final sequence when they go into the prison camp. take away all the politics and treat it like a film and it is a good film. thats all it is a film and not a have a go at communism by the americans . some one thought the story would make a profit so they went ahead and made it anyone who sees more than whats in the film has some issues. so good film.

Iron Eagle was easier to digest for me which should not mean its better than top gun as both films have pride of place in my dvd collection of best a and b sides.

Its corny but it has the knack of wanting the viewer like me to watch over again and again and its soundtrack to the film its ace despite missing twisted sisters "where not gonna take it" since its evened out by Dio's "hide in the Rainbow" and Queen's " one vision" as well as another fab track of mine "road of the Gypsy".

its a cult dvd which will be remembered for the right and wrong reasons but it does not stop me giving it 5 stars.
