Just bought this for my daugter and its a superb buy. its easy to forget how good these classic musicals are. this perticular edition is great becasue it includes the Dance and singalong versions of the song. you are shown through all the moves for perticular songs and then can dance to them like a pro well maybe not. Only negative and its a really small point as this is fantastic value is there are only 3 dance along songs would have been great with more. still 5* though!

Does anybody know what is on Disc 2? I suspect there might be some extras and I am hoping one of which is the documentary Shadowing the Third Man, but would like to know for sure before I buy it. Shame that Amazon is sometimes so lax about product descriptions.
I have watched this film five or six times on an old VHS version and every time I watch it, I discover something new and enthralling. The film is superb, bigger than life and definitely one of the greatest ever made!

As 99 % of Customers would have seen this film before there is no need to write about how Good it is - Noel Coward, Ralph Richardson and Alec Guinness need I say more ?
For some daft reason Amazon do not make it clear what aspect ratio the dvd is.
I am glad to report its has the Aspect Ratio 2.35:1,Anamorphic Widescreen far better than what I was expecting { 1.33:1 }

Great film. One can only imagine the frame of mind of those originally watching it during the war. Brilliantly avoids the trap of portraying characters as heroes, they're just normal flawed fellows... who you don't necessarily like, until they're the tight knit fighting unit we see at the end. Isn't propaganda clever?
David Niven is fantastic - a role model for every Englishman.
The rest of the cast are exceptional too. The last shots, soldiers advancing bravely through the smoke, was surely lifted for the opening credits of Dad's Army years later - and both featured the brilliant John Laurie.
