The Wrong Arm Of The Law [1962]

starring: Peter Sellers, Lionel Jeffries, Bernard Cribbins, Davy Kaye, Nanette Newman
directed by: Cliff Owen

Release Date October 07, 2002
One of the very best British comedy films of it's period - or any other for that matter! No one can touch Peter Sellers in such a role, and in such sublime form!

Bernard Cribbins is also delightful as Nervous O'Toole!

starring: Dick Emery, Derren Nesbitt, Ronald Fraser, Pat Coombs, William Franklyn
directed by: Cliff Owen

Release Date October 30, 2006
Although I don't own the dvd I do have the video of this film, very enjoyable, all Dick Emery's creations are used in it, Mandy, Lampwick, vicar, etc. Dick Emery gets out of the prison and gets involved in lots of situations to try and find the loot of his deceased mate, unfortunately his mate had a penchant for tattoos and as also young women,,,code for Swiss bank account is tattooed on backs of various nubile young women, if you like dick Emery you will enjoy this.

A Prize Of Arms [1962]

starring: Stanley Baker, Tom Bell, Patrick Magee, Rodney Bewes, Fulton Mckay and Geoffrey Palmer
directed by: Cliff Owen

Release Date May 21, 2007
I'd never seen this film, never even heard of it. But I found it whilst browsing Amazon and noticed that 2 of our best (deceased)actors were in it. Stanley Baker and Tom Bell. This was a very good film with an excellent script if maybe a bit far fetched, but it had me interested right up to the end. I wanted them to get away with it. Also look out for appearances by some other probably unknown actors at the time. Michael Robbins and Stephen Lewis from On The Buses. Well worth the money. If anyone from Odeon entertainment read this, can you release another excellent film called Jigsaw with Jack Warner 1962. Pleeeeeaaase?????

The Morecambe And Wise Movie Collection [1965]

starring: Eric Morecambe, Virgilio Texera, Isobel Black, Ernie Wise, William Franklyn
directed by: Robert Asher, Cliff Owen

Release Date May 20, 2002
"Much Maligned, but enjoyable"

Much maligned? What on earth do you mean by that!!!??

Until Eric's death, Morecambe & Wise were THE British comedy duo - these three movies easily stand the test of time, and are each classics. Unlike most comedies from their time, they are still hilarious. They bring back memories of their shows, and great times. A Must for any fan of English humour.

Steptoe And Son / Steptoe And Son Ride Again [1973]

starring: Wilfrid Brambell, Harry H. Corbett, Carolyn Seymour, Arthur Howard, Victor Maddern
directed by: Cliff Owen, Peter Sykes

Release Date August 04, 2003
The 1st film is the weaker, Harold's romance takes centre stage, and the comedy loses out a bit, but it still isn't too bad.
The 2nd is great, a feature length version that gets the balance just right, probably the best film version of any British sitcom of that era.

No Sex Please, We're British [1973]

starring: Ronnie Corbett, Margaret Nolan, Gerald Sim, Robin Askwith, John Bindon
directed by: Cliff Owen

Release Date December 27, 2004
I give this four stars for the film, which is a hilarious British farce and includes great performances from all those involved.
Sadly, it appears to have some scenes missing on DVD and there are no extra features. Still, at least it's on DVD and at a very reasonable price.

The Vengeance Of She [1968]

starring: Olinka Berova, John Richardson, Edward Judd
directed by: Cliff Owen

Release Date January 29, 2007
The Vengeance of She is more of a plodding modern-day rerun with a third rate cast than a sequel - no Ursula Andress, Peter Cushing, Christopher Lee or even Bernard Cribbins, with only John Richardson, the Clive Owen of his day, returning (although at least Hammer were smart enough never to let him use his own voice: as usual, he's dubbed, here by David De Keyser), and no connection with any of H. Rider Haggard's three follow-up novels. This time it's the reincarnation of Ayesha being inexplicably drawn towards Kumar, with everyone who stands in her way meeting a rather boring death en route to a predictable appointment with the eternal flame. Unfortunately she's played by another one of Hammer's less than stellar discoveries, Olinka Berova. You can't ... Read More:

Easily the best M & W feature. Eric playing beach volleyball demonstrates perfectly the perceived differences between us Brits and other Europeans at the beach.

The Magnificent Two [1967]

starring: Eric Morecambe, Ernie Wise, Margit Saad, Virgilio Teixeira, Cecil Parker
directed by: Cliff Owen

Release Date May 20, 2002
Morecambe & Wise embark on a journey to sell toy soldiers, and get mixed up in a political war. The scene where Eric has to be shot is side-splittingly funny. From the opening scene when they do a mock battle with the toys,to the end credits I did not stop laughing, Eric and Ernie at the top of the tree.
This is in my opinion the best film they made, it has a good story line and the plot is easy to follow, my 10 year old son was in hysterics when watching it. A must have for any video collection. If you cant buy it, beg, borrow, or steal it. Must be seen!!!!
