Father Christmas

directed by: Dave Unwin

Release Date November 03, 2008
What a delightful animated film. Coming from the the same people behind 'The Snowman' you know it's going to be good. The style of animation is different compared to The Snowman and it has speech throughout the film. There are some nice scenes that connect the two films.

The premise of the story is that we see Father Christmas doing what he does "the other 364 days a year". This includes him going on holiday to Scotland, Las Vegas and France.

The charm of the film is that Father Christmas, when not in the red suit, looks and acts just like someone's grandad. However, wherever he is in the world children still recognise him as "Santa Claus".

I would really recommend you buying this instead instead of the double feature ... Read More:

War Game

starring: Kate Winslet, Iain Jones, Adam Godley, Ben Warwick
directed by: Dave Unwin

Release Date June 20, 2005
like the other reviewer, I managed to catch this story by accident, when it was shown on Christmas morning a few years ago.
Every year since I have looked for it in the Christmas tv listings.
it's a lovely story about the way that the first war affected this country like no other war before or since.
Ordinary lads from the country were volunteering to go and join the "fun" that they were told was happenning in France and Belgium.
Sadly so many of these innocent boys found out the truth too late and are still buried overseas.
It's a nice film to show to kids to tell them about the 1914 Christmas truce.
I certainly will be buying this to show the kids this Christmas.

This is a wonderful christmas however old you are! It is my son's first christmas this year, and I have just bought this to read to him, as he loves having stories read to him. I have both the Snowman and Father Christmas in this format, and the gorgeous pictures taken directly from the film are beautiful, and the words are fantastic, and it is so easy to read. Any child will love having this lovely christmas tale read to them, and I am sure parents will adore reading it to their little ones, watching their faces when they hear about what Father Christmas gets up to on Christmas Eve!

The Wind In The Willows [1995]

starring: Alan Bennett, Michael Palin, Michael Gambon, Rik Mayall, James Villiers
directed by: Dave Unwin

Release Date October 13, 1997
A wonderfully written book that appeals to all ages and remains fresh after all these years. The story about the friendship between Badger, Ratty, Mole and Toad meanders gently along with a magical feel, nice touches of humour throughout while subtly mentioning the effects wrought on the countryside by modern technology. This doesn't detract in any way however from the fun of the book and you'll come back to it again and again.

This is a really funny tale about Father Christmas taking holidays and basically doing things which everybody does everyday. Father Christmas is rather grumpy in this story but lovely with it. I loved this story when I was young and though still young now (18) I still love it.

If you ever have a problem entertaining those troublesome tots (or teens!) forget Teletubbies and Tweenies, all you need is one thing - Beatrix Potter. Over the years children can't help but feel enchanted and entrigued by the many animals that she has brought to life in her stories, the famous of course being Peter Rabbit. Potter was a very talented story writer but not just that, because all of her stories were accompanied by fine beautiful art work. I was delighted to hear that some kind person decided to translate these beautiful stories and art work onto film when I was told Peter Rabbit was to be shown on TV several years ago. Now everyone can see Beatrix's characters and scenery 'brought to life', thanks to the producers of these animations, as they provide perfect ... Read More:
