Despite the reviews here giving this DVD 5 stars, it is indeed a classic, avoid it a all costs. Luckily I only rented it - the picture quality is simply abyssmal, straight from a VHS tape I reckon and umpteenth generation to boot. STEER CLEAR!

This is a two film (on one DVD) set. Both films star Bing Crosby and Jane Wyman. "Here Comes the Groom" is in Black and White. It was made in 1951 and directed by Frank Capra. It was one of Bing's favorite films (referred to in his autobiography "Call Me Lucky"). The main song is "In The Cool Cool Cool of the Evening". Excellent musical comedy with some serious moments.
The second film "Just for You" is in Colour and was made in 1952. It contains some excellent musical numbers (sung with real zest) including "Zing a Little Song"; "The Live Oak Tree" and the "Ten Ten from Tennessee". This is a Bob Hope vehicle film that follows the standard formula of putting him in a series of situations that he is not prepared for and then letting hilarity ensue. In this case Hope dreams of being a detective and gets his chance only to be sucked in deeply out of his depth by - wait for it - a beautiful brunette. Of course he saves the day in the end but not before being put through every possible comedic situation. The sound quality was very high on the disk I bought.

Bob Hope plays a child photographer who wants to be a detective. The first scene shows him telling the reporters how he ends up in jail. Dorothy Lamour is the Damsel in Distress and Peter Lorre plays the bad guy perfectly. Also there is a funny cameo appearance from Bing Crosby and Alan Ladd!-A fast moving comedy, well worth watching!
