This is a great movie `cause it has a little something for everyone. I watch it with my boyfriend (who is pretty reluctant to anything too "christmassy"), because I want to see as many christmasmovies as possible in december, and this is one out of a few he is willing to watch with me. It`s funny and entertaining enough to keep him sitting still, and it also has enough christmas spirit to make me happy! :)

Michael Weston (Jeffrey Donovan) is a spy and very good at it. Or at least he was. One day, while in the middle of a covert mission, he is burned. For us civilians, that means fired. Barely managing to escape with his life, he passes out and wakes up in Miami with no money and no idea what happened. Worse yet, Miami is him home town, and that means dealing with his Mother (Sharon Gless) who he hasn't seen in years.
Michael is determined to figure out who did this to him and why so he can get back to work. So while he slowly gathers pieces of that puzzle, he picks up odd jobs as a private investigator. When he needs back up (which is often), he teams up with ex-IRA weapons smuggler (and ex-girlfriend) Fiona (Gabriella Anwar) and ... Read More:

In an age of director's cuts and extended additions, the irony is that the films that need restoration the most are the very ones that never get it. Thus the Weinsteins chose not to restore The Fall of the Roman Empire, MGM/UA chose not only to ignore the existing four-hour rough-cut version of Tony Richardson's The Charge of the Light Brigade but actually put out a cut version of the theatrical version and the much-troubled 1998 movie version of The Avengers will never be seen as it was originally intended. It's not the catastrophe its often portrayed, but the studio only had themselves to blame for the over-reaction by violating the quid-pro-quo relationship with the press by not screening it for the critics, a public relations disaster that lead to many ... I guess this is the film that finally killed off Jeremiah Chechik's career as a movie director, but it's hard to sympathise with someone who could turn out two stinking turkeys in a row (the first being "The Avengers"). Maybe a remake of "Les Diaboliques" seemed like a good idea at the time, but unfortunately the script sucks and the casting is absolutely insane. Chazz Palminteri as a headmaster?! That's like casting Joe Pesci as a nuclear scientist. Sharon Stone is embarrassingly obvious in the vampish role, and Isabelle Adjani once again demonstrates her complete lack of taste when it comes to choosing her non-French film roles (remember "Ishtar"? I sincerely hope not). Diabolique's story is insultingly stupid and has more holes than a pensioner's y-fronts. Avoid!
