errol flynn was the first superstar hollywood produced in its veritable stable of stud horses and here he leads the famed charge against the crimeans which is celebrated here as highest valour without question .
the historical blunder and misconsctruction aside ,curtiz did not even get the geography of india right with elephants and tigers in the frontier province, and names like lohara and chukoti mixed with delhi and calcutta ,
this is the romantic nonsense that was to engulf popular mainstream cinema because a leading man was able to fulfill the audience fantasies despite total incompetence in both reel and real life,
flynn was flamboyant ,charming and he made olivia de haviland a star alongside as they were ... Read More:

3 more Comedy Classics with Stan and Ollie where they get in trouble with the Law.
First of all “Scram!” sees the pair help a drunk who’s lost his Car Keys. He invites them home, but lets them in the wrong house! Perhaps he got the house nextdoor to his or maybe it looked like his.
“Night Owls” sees the pair try to rob the Police Chief’s house under the orders of Officer Kennedy. The Butler has been seen in several other films like “Our Wife” and “Thicker Than Water”. Will the Chief find out?
In “The Midnight Patrol” Stan and Ollie are actually Policemen. Something concerning me is the end where the boys get shot by the Chief (who they accidentely ... Read More:

I remember watching these black & white 20 minute short movies on TV as a child and laughing my socks off. 40 years on and they have not lost their sparkle with the passage of time. Now my own kids are howling and laughing at their antics. The videos have been digitally enhanced so the quality is excellent. They are now pride of my video collection and when I am feeling low, I reach for this video to cheer me up.

This second Signature Collection of Errol Flynn may lack the grandness of volume one but it's one hell of package just the same. The "extras" may be so-so but the choice of films makes it a must-have item. Pride of place has to go to "The Charge of the Light Brigade" (1936). Historians may quibble at its lack of historical accuracy but this is a great ppiece of picture-making and one of Flynn's best bits of derring-do. The charge itself comes thundering at you across seven decades of changinmg fashions and advancing technologies to claim its place as one of the best action sequences of all time.
Then there are two aviation pictures "The Dawn Patrol" (1938) in which Flynn gives of his best performances as a devil-may-care World War 1 pilot who ... Read More:

Captain Blood is one of those films I always undervalue, which at least means that each time I see it I'm pleasantly surprised by how much better it is than I remembered. Despite the lack of action until the spectacular finale, it has a good plot and some great visuals, as you'd expect from Michael Curtiz, but a big part of the fun is watching Errol Flynn become a star before your eyes: it's easy to guess which scenes were shot during the first couple of weeks when he was still a little awkward, but the confidence, charm and vigour he brings to the part easily overshadows his few missteps, and he and Olivia De Havilland are one of those rare perfect onscreen couples. Basil Rathbone's Fronch axe-scent is so out-ray-juss that even he can't keep a straight ... Read More:

G Men was made after the introduction of the Hays production code a censorship governing body that ensured that Hollywood produced films that were morally harmless. It also meant that actors who had made their names playing gangsters were rehabilitated, starting with Jimmy Cagney.
Cagney plays a struggling young lawyer, Brick Davis who after being put through college by aging mob boss "Mac" finds himself going no where. After his friend is killed by one of Mac's hoods (Barton MacLane) Davis joins the FBI to track them down. Despite at first being at odds with his commanding officer (Robert Armstrong) Brick soon wins his confidence and goes after the baddies.

The 20 minute shorts featured in this video are some of Stan and Ollie's most early and fantastic works. Chickens Come Home is a brilliant case of classic comedy with Hardy tring to prevent his female blackmailer from spoiling his campaign and letting his wife find out! Stan has the task of sorting out the problem, but ends up in the biggest of knots. A superb case of fate and great acting by all the cast makes this a perfect short film for everyone to enjoy. The Chimp and Dirty Work are the duo's finest movies of farce ever created. After all how do you book a chimp in a hotel and how can you unblock a chimney which hasn't been cleared for 30 years. Brilliant timing leads to a great video and another classic moment for Stan and Ollie.

Let's be realistic. The reason to watch a Fred Astaire movie is to watch Fred Astaire dance. And dancing, it didn't matter too much who his partners were. Ginger Rogers, who was a first-rate dancer, was able to bring a degree of pep and skeptic humor to their non-dancing roles that helped create the chemistry we still talk about and enjoy. But without Astaire dancing (and singing, of course), in my view, his movies have little point. So what do we have with volume one of the Astaire & Rogers Collection? I think we have some of the most unforgettable dance routines ever filmed. Even with those movies in the collection where the story is either relatively uninteresting or where it seems to take forever to get to the dances, there still are dances that make you ... Read More:
