blade runner:the final cut ? are we sure now sir ridley? i have enjoyed various re-releases from laser disc,video,dvd & now blue ray. each version is great ,there are some copies with harrison ford's narration.
disc 1 is amazingly restored with new cgi effects & ridley scott's favourite ending scenes, fantastic city sets with flying cars & chases
entwined with a film noir atmosphere.breathtaking! if you just don't get it then so what? you can't slate it,it's a blueprint for another 1000 sci-fi movies.
disc 2 is fascinating, it's crammed with interviews from cast,directors &

Good God! Russell Crow is one of my favorate actors, and I think this is his best film to date. With a superb supporting cast with the likes of Joaquin Phoenix, Oliver Reed, and Richard Harris. This is a tail of one mans quest to find the man who wronged him. Betrayed by his own emperor, the general turned slave turned gladiator must take on an empire to bring justice to his life.

This film is completely crass and completely predictable. Dreadful script and even worse acting.
I actually had to turn it off halfway through. Just glad I didn't buy it!

I found the first 55 minutes a touch slow at times, but from there on I was glued to the film, based on the true story of Frank Lucas a drug lord in New York.

Russell Crowe in particular is as usual in fine form, with a good performance from Denzel Washington too.

I've been looking forwards to watching this film since I first heard about it and for me it does not disappoint, I've read on another review stating that the story is preditable, but this is after all a true story, how else are you supposed to portray a true story?, putting things in that did not happen?, after all with a film like this there's really only 2 or 3 ways that this could ever turn out anyway!!

black hawk down is based on actual events thus it is quite fictional in many parts. also it is throughly biased in which you are made to feel sorry for the americans who get killed(only 18) while the somalies are made to be shown as sub-human(more than 1000 somalies lose thier lives). on doing research into the conflict in somalia i learnt that it also has to do with oil just like iraq.

a 'good' war movie which pushes the american foreign policy and agenda.

i would like to see a movie of black hawk down from the somalian side if that will be possible.

It seems like overkill. A five disc box set focused on a single film. Six different versions of the original film, plus an exhaustive array of extras - documentaries, commentaries, out-takes, interviews, concept art, screen tests. Surely only obsessives and the professionally interested could possibly want all this?

But this isn't like other dvd sets. No dull, half-baked `documentaries' that tell you nothing more than star A thinks director B is a great director, Director B thinks star A is a top chap, and everyone thinks the guy who deputy managed Computer Effects Team C did a super job. No commentaries by extras that appear on screen for all of ten seconds. What you get here is a magnificently put-together Blade Runner archive, an exhaustive history of a landmark film. ... I watched American Gangster for the first time on Sky the other day and have to say it is a great film and a pleasure to watch. I've just ordered the blu ray.

It's a slow burner and not the most action packed, but that isn't always a bad thing as this film proves. Based on the true story of Frank Lucas and his rise to power and Richie Roberts and his relentless quest to bring Lucas to justice.

The acting is great as you would expect from such a cast and New York and New Jersey look great going back to the 70's.

There is some great books and documentaries on Frank Lucas and Nicky Barnes (this guy should have film about his life also) so check them out.

All in all a 5 star film.
