You will never get a better chance to see a movie star in embryonic form than watching 28-year old Austrian body builder Arnold Schwarzenegger in this 1976 documentary about bodybuilding. Arnold is "Pumping Iron" to win his sixth straight Mr. Olympia title and the future Terminator steals the spotlight from his competitors (including Lou Ferrigno in his pre-Incredible Hulk days) with relative ease. Directors George Butler and Robert Fiore capture the world of competitive bodybuilding on film, but it is Arnold who makes it all seem like such a noble effort. With his natural charm and his single-minded determination, it is easy in retrospect to see why he became such a box officer star. This is a man who has always been comfortable with who he ... I'm a great Columbo Fan and had no problem with Box Sets 1 and 2 but was surprised to find that Disc 3 of the box set shipped to me is the same as Disc 2. Although it clearly states on the disc that it is Disc 3, when played it is definetly Disc 2.

In this modern (read early 90's) take on the classic American Superhero, things are pretty much as we'd expect. Clark Kent (Dean Cain) has moved to Metropolis and gotten a job at the Daily Planet. He is teamed with investigative reporter Lois Lane (Teri Hatcher) as they investigate stories for the newspaper under the demanding eye of editor Perry White (Lane Smith). Rounding out the newspaper staff is eager young reporter/photographer Jimmy Olsen (Michael Landes) and society (gossip) columnist Cat Grant (Tracy Scoggin).
But Clark Kent has a secret. He's not a normal human but a man with extraordinary superpowers. In order to keep that a secret, he takes on the identity of Superman, a fact that comes in handy since many of the stories ... Read More:

The show is great. But the packaging for an NTSC Box Set is exstremely poor. Infact the worst I^ve ever seen. The plastic pages that hold the dvd discs are cracked and the thin cardboard cover over them dented and creased. No matter how padded the envelope they are sent out in the Box Set packaging is so poor that it arrives damaged. Surely the maufacturer/ designer even with limited funds could of done a better job than this on the product.!

Peter Falk is superb as the quirky detective. Have you ever noticed that he never leaves a room the first time - he always 'remembers' something else he needs to ask! The music is also excellent and the plots believable. They don't make them like this any more - and that's a great shame.

Pumping Iron is an absolute must see for anyone that is into training, whether that is with weights, sprinting or any other sport for that matter! It is sure to boost your approach to working out and is actually very fun and interesting.
The Anniversary Edition DVD includes some great added extra's which were not avaiable on the VHS version. One of these is an open and frank interview with the man himself, shedding some light on some of the more memorable moments of the film. whether or not you enjoy body building (doing it or looking at it) doesnt matter. I have leant my copy to enough people who dont work out to know that it has a massively inspirational impact on who ever see's it.
Yes there are plenty of steriotype body builders who are clearly ... Read More:

I was very fortunate in being able to view "Out on a Limb" whilst visiting Germany earlier this year, on a spiritual visit to see Mother Meera. I found the story absolutely amazing and it gives an insight into things we don't understand and which a lot of people refus to accept. You need an open mind to view this film.
