I was a latecomer to 'House' but better late than never.
Hugh Laurie plays the miserable yet brilliant Dr. House with some style. You almost forget he is a Brit.
I have watched many hospital dramas - ER, St Elsewhere, Casualty, etc, as there is something uniquely engaging about the medical environment. Those series have been mainly dramas while House is something else. It's a part drama, part sit-com and part geeky medical show.
The basic premise involves patients being admitted to Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital with very mixed symptoms that complicate the medical diagnoses. House uses his talented young medical team to treat the symptoms but the patients usually take a turn for the worse upon ... Read More:

I have to say two things first attracted me to MAD MEN - One was the fact that it had been created by Matthew Weiner, A guy very heavily connected to The Soprano's, one of the greatest TV Shows of all time. The second was Jon Hamm. An amazing actor, who quite literally was born to play Donald Francis Draper. Halfway through the series I bought myself a Sony TV, with built in Freeview so for a change I wouldn't have to wait until the Boxset became available in the UK on DVD. 'Red in the Face' was my first episode and boy was it a good one - I pegged that Draper for the kind of guy he was as he walked away from an ailing Sterling with the World's Greatest Smirk on his face. That alone should have been the reason he won the golden globe for best Actor. But ... Read More:

River's Edge is a more than welcome reissue, and a definite obligatory purchase at this charming price- despite coming on an extra-less DVD (just language/subtitle features). This was always on my "To view" list after witnessing a guy lose it in a local video shop as a youth, demanding a refund on the immoral movie he'd just watched. I knew that a film that provoked such loathing was right up my cultural alley!
River's Edge is extremely overlooked- apart from Uncut-magazine (who have championed it over the years and published the odd article on it)- it has sunk from the radar. River's Edge is very much part of the culture created by the true Nevermind (as in Replacements) that Kurt Cobain got the credit for. Its depiction of alienated, nihilistic ... Read More:

"Twin Peaks" was the ultimate cult TV show -- suspenseful, complex, hilariously written and with hidden layers that casual channel-flippers might not catch.
And though it's only eight episodes, the first season of David Lynch and Mark Frost's "Twin Peaks" is a brilliant piece of television, with a dozen subplots all somehow linked to the mysterious death of the beautiful, troubled Laura Palmer. Brilliant writing, quirky acting, and great cherry pie are all mixed up in the darkly eerie season.
For the record, it doesn't contain the pilot episode, where Laura is found "wrapped in plastic," and Special Agent Dale Cooper(Kyle McLachlan) is called in to investigate. Nope, the first season starts with the episode after that: Cooper continues ... Read More:

This movie is seen to this day as a breakthrough role for Keanu Reeves. The movie is about a group of teenagers, and depicts how little they care about life anymore when one of their friends is found dead at a River's Edge and they arn't more concerned. They refuse to help the police. It gives a deeply psychologicall view into theses people who suffer deeply but in silence.
I hope this displays some of the significance and importance of the film to people as a lesson of the past.

I have given this excellent series only four stars purely because I didn't think it matched the very high standards of the first two series. There isn't too much that is wrong but I did feel that the stories were stretched a bit thin at times and there aren't quite as many memorable episodes.I wouldn't say that it is an anti climax but I expected a more explosive ending.
Having said all of that, there are many moments of tension on display and once again it is Ian McShane as Al Swearengen that stands above everyone else here.He is always on the mark and never gives a dud performance. For some reason I felt that the usually fabulous Robin Wiegert actually overacted her role of Calamity Jane which I never felt in the first two series.Series three is a fine ...
