Here, Lucy Liu (Chinese Princess) is kidnapped by a Chinese traitor and a marshal who belongs in jail. Jackie Chan plays an Imperial Guard who travels from the Forbidden City to the wild west and ends up joining up with a very enjoyable and easy going train robber Owen Wilson in order to rescue her. Even though a western, there are many martial arts opportunity for Jackie. My favorite fight is when Jackie uses saplings to fight a group of Crow Indians. The interaction of the two main characters is very enjoyable and fun. To be added to every martial arts/western/comedy library.
Release Date October 21, 2002
Robert de Niro was very good in this film playing a serious-minded diligent policeman who gets teamed up for a reality tv show with Eddie Murphy who plays another cop who is loud and unsubtle, but the contrast between the two of them - which is supposed to be a a main feature of the story - didn't work that well and their coupling and the plot as a whole seemed contrived and unlikely even in the context of a comedy. There was lots of action in Showtime and some funny moments but overall it was a very average movie.

Two great buddy movies with Jackie Chan as Chong Wang (mis pronounced as John Wayne) and Owen Wilson as O' Bannon.I preferred the first one though and loved the gag reel at the end especially the scene in the bathtub. Second one tries hard to emulate the original but falls flat.
Shanghai Noon: 4 stars
Shanghai Knights: 2stars
